I have a question regarding a 3 seris bmw.paint code is 668 black. we repaired the rt qtr 3 months ago.what we have run into is the damn car has the ceramic clear powdercoat which as far as ican find isn’t susposed to be on the 3 series.anyway long story short.when the car left the shop it was shinny black and now only the rt qtr is still shinny black the rest of the car is turning light gray.what it looks like is that the basecoat has bleached out on the rest of the car other than the door handles,qtr glass trim and the sat radio antenna.I was wondering if anyone else has run into this on any other bmws.The factory paint looks 10 years old already.the jambs are also discoloring severly.Of course bmw will neither confrim nor deny a problem may exist.I shot all three alts yesterday on a test panel to be sure it wasn’t user error and they are all a deep black except for 1.which is a customer service match and is way lighter which makes me think there is a problem with fade.If anyone has run into this please let me know so i can help my customer get this thing resolved. thanks
they may not confirm or deny there is an overall problem with their paint on many cars but how can they deny a problem on a 1 year old car. it should be covered under warrenty. i would think the dealer that the cust bought the car from would be trying to help. no?
NO would be the right answer.I’m trying to get some info so they can get this resolved.
