These guys have been after our business for a while, being one of the few S&W products we use maybe thats why so cheap. I told him I wanted to try it, maybe he gave a demo price or something??

Not as extreme as I imagined at first sight. That was a cool thing for them to do.

You need to try RM clearcoat DC5120 to compare to the SW product. Dry times are very similar as is buff times. DC5120 uses DH62 hardener. Both products have been out for a few months. Refinish price for the clearcoat is $140.00/Gal and $49.90 for the hardener. Mix ratio is 4:1.
2 Coats.RTS qt cost is $37.98.
AnonymousJuly 21, 2008 at 8:20 am #11004The dry times are quite longer, its nice that is goes tack-free in 10 minutes as i think DC5100 does also. You can’t polish for 4 hours though, compared to 15 minutes that’s a considerable difference. The price sounds alright, I’ll try it out this week (if my jobber can get it yet).
July 22, 2008 at 6:02 am #11008I found it to a lot faster myself. Of course, I am in the deep south where we have had 95 plus for at least 2 weeks now. I have just spent a week working with the product. I also found that I could melt the edge in very easily on a blend area using UBR200. When you get some to try, see how quick it cures for you. We were nibbing and foam pad polishing in 30 minutes with Norton Liquid Ice #97116.
April 23, 2011 at 11:32 pm #30473ppg will be also be selling a 15 air bake clear sometime this year.sherwin williams 15 min clear looks great if you dont have to buff it but if you do you might as well buff concrete that is the main downside of this clear for now I will stick with dc3000 for spot and panel painting.
April 26, 2011 at 6:02 am #30508I have used a few gallons of this stuff and it is great for small jobs like bumpers that need to go the same day. It’s nice to have the wet on wet application, saves a few minutes. But with anything that dries that fast it seems to pinch up a bit. The big drawback that I found is if you wait to long to buff, not very fun at all but if you do it within 30 min or so works out real nice.
April 27, 2011 at 2:14 am #30518I heard that SW was having problems with that clear. I guess 2 coats isnt giving enough film build and the stuff is starting to delaminate
May 18, 2011 at 4:50 pm #30910I used the hpc on an a panel repair about a year ago and I must say it holds up well. It sprays out nice and lays down fairly flat. With that said, it is only really made for small repairs and a complete job is a no no! I tried it and it it dries too fast, you will have dry spray everywhere (it is a wet on wet clear no exceptions). The only real problem I found was that you have to sand and polish the same day because this stuff dries fast and hard and it is a pain in the ass to buff the next day! I ended up going with PPG’s Global 8101 Fast Clear, it is out of dust in 2-4 minutes and I can still sand and polish the same day. Damien
