91 Camaro black hood patch.

Hello everyone! I’m a broke college kid in need of some advise… A while back my hood took in the hitch of a big ol’ Chevy, and was left with a giant hole about the size of my hand.
I recently patched up the hole and got everything smoothed out and ready to go because my friend offered to paint the patch and make it look like it was never there. Needless to say my friend had to bail out on me because his business is getting way to busy, so I was stuck with a patch.
So anyway… It’s been a while that the patch has just sat there, and I don’t really have enough money to get it professionally done. So I tried to paint it myself… With car spray paint :unsure: It hasn’t been turning out well so far. My hood is a very glossy black and the paint doesn’t really like to fade in with it.
Anybody have some idea’s on how to help it fade in to the hood or do I have to paint the whole thing, to make it all match?
If I spray a coat of Clear will that help me out at all?
Somebody told me that black will fade in well if I just buff it and wash it a couple times… is this true?
Thanks to anyone that can assist me with info. It will all be much appreciated 🙂gonna have a hard time making it look good with a spray can. if you dont have the right equipment to spray it your best bet is to save up some money and have a shop do it.
Yeh that’s what I figured… I know a guy that has one of those prof. spray guns for cars. Would it be hard to repaint the whole hood with one of those?

Can you post a picture?
It is usually easier (for a beginner) to paint the whole thing rather than blend it. If it is solid black, you probably won’t have much of an issue with matching the colour, even if you paint it with single stage (non clear coat) paint.Okay, I’ll try loading the picture up… this is just with first two coats on. The patch is about half that size, I got a little carried away >.<

I'm pretty set on going ahead and repainting the whole hood.. I had just got a nice glossy coat on there, and then a fly/bee thing came in and started swimming around on the whole thing!
Any idea on how much paint I need to repaint the whole hood? What type of paint will I need to get? And should I add a coat of clear on it? Thanks guys =DI was thinkin… How much paint would it take to do the whole car? I was thinking about buying a gallon for the hood but it seems like thats a lot, lol. If I paint the car the same color will I need to primer it all or sand it down or what? Anybody have a site that can give me some specifics on what I need to get in order to do this thing right? Thanks =D
Also, where is a good place to buy paint? I saw a couple sites, but just wondering if they’re legit or not. =P
