I am thinking about getting a cheap system to use so I can do Engine brackets and small parts with any suggestions?

    Brand type of gun systems?

Curring Lamp system or ovens only?

I remember someone suggested powdercoat kit from Eastwood.

I’d like to try it, but I’m pretty sure you need an oven, which I don’t have, nor I have a place to do it.

Eastwoods or Harbor Freight are your most economic setups (under a hundred dollars). You will also need a bead blaster, which they also have for under a hundred bucks and a oven. Go to a second hand store, the dump, or a appliance repair and get one from $0 to $50 dollars. great setup for small stuff. Pint cans of powder go a long ways. Lots of colors all under $10 a piece.

i know people that do it professionaly and at home using eastwoods stuff. dont know about hf. i would stay away from that one. you do need an oven, no cure lamps. they give inconsistant flow of the powder.

Ya I was looking at the Eastwood junk
I was thinking my paint baking lamps may cure the stuff but I dont know?

Lots of old electric ovens out there though.
I only want to do small stuff any ways.

Is it really tougher than urethane’s?

nope the curing lamps wont work. its called power coating because it comes out of the gun as a powder. the oven makes it melt and flow to make it look like paint. i think it needs like 400 degrees Fahrenheit or higher to cure. only takes like 10-15 mins to bake. i guess u can use a regular oven for it, might even be better since they can be big for like rims. id shoot for something natrual gas

you guys know that you can NOT use your oven for this. You MUST use a dedicated oven for this process. Don’t ever cook in the same oven as it puts off harmful toxins.

I know most of you know this, just stating this for the people that may not be aware of this.

I’ve done small stuff with IR lights. it does the trick in an instant. not as consistent as an oven though
