This was a bad dent, Insurance paid for a new side. I had a side that had rear damage. I saved the customer his deductible and everybody was happy.
I used a combination of Fusor panel glue and some welds too. It was 4 hours..lol
November 11, 2012 at 8:19 pm #39085Hey mate, can I jus ask. I’m not having a dig. Did you get a new panel for the whole side. I know from working on the panel side that its hard to do a weld half way down the side panel and not get to much distortion but get enough penitration to do the weld. I know it takes longer to drill out the spots then re spot or blug, with it being a replacement panel it’s best to try and keep as less filler in the job you can. 🙂 I know it’s al bout time and money but I know from doin insurance work there funny.
November 11, 2012 at 8:37 pm #39095I used a bed I had that was hit in the rear, no way I would have cut a good panel. I just used something that would have been crushed. Call it being green

November 11, 2012 at 9:53 pm #39103Honestly that bedside wasnt terrible. Not sure how your metal skills are, but it probably would have been a better repair to fix it than cut it up like that

If I had not had the old bed section out back in the weeds, I would have fixed it. It was a close call. This was the first time I sectioned a bedside. The customer was a buddy of mine and he says it still looks great. I thought about this after seeing Bonomerchant do the white Ford.

Here is another site we all go on, you should post pics there. Not as many pro guys but there are some there. It would be nice for them to see what can be done.
I agree with Ding, straightening would have been a better repair, Not just because most of it might have came out with a push from the hand, but the corrosion “hot spots” created from welding would turn me off. But hey you got it out the door and it looks good, Plus got to try something new, Its all good. lol :cheers
