We just had our network hacked into. My son is at Microsoft and he thought it was the work of the conficker worm. I guess it captures passwords, credit card numbers, etc. These guys got into most of my accounts and raised some hell. They hacked into my website and caused it to crash. They have been answering my e-mails and deleting incoming e-mails asking me what was up because I had ripped their head off in my last e-mail which I did not answer because they deleted it before I read it. Someone finally called me and gave me the heads up.
I found most of the bogus e-mails in my recycle bin, along with the incoming ones they deleted. I still have no idea whatelse they may have done. This is one of the few sites I visit that was not attacked. If someone comes on posting as me and tells you to go screw yourself I would appreciate a note. New e-mail is bradlarsen1955@live.com
Any of you guys ever experience this? This is my first time and I hope my last. We are setting up better security this week. In the mean time I need to go to the bank on monday and see whats up. On line banking will not let me in ( which indicates I was locked out) but my debit card works and says all is well money wise.
My son says to go to microsofts website and get all of the updates and it will eliminate the chance of being infected, but will not deworm your computer. So if you are infected get a new computer like I did.
Love any advice you can give me if you have been hacked.
Thanks

I didn’t take them as seriously as I should have, they just de-faced the site. Fortunately, because of the technology the site uses the user passwords are so well encrypted that it’s damn near impossible for anyone to decode them, (I’m not even able to see them).
My aunt’s hotmail account was somehow hacked into, it resulted in automatic emails to her contacts trying to get them to check out some website. That being online based I don’t know how that happened, either hacked or she entered her email/password into another site that puts up a dummy login screen to steal passwords.
Anti-virus and operating system (microsoft) updates are the best way to keep you safe, I really like the norton antivirus and find it to be worth the money.
One other thing is keep your passwords hard, don’t use easy ones. A trick I’ve found is use first letter from a sentences rather then words..i.e
i’m sick of progressive chopping up my god damn estimates = isopcumgde (then toss a few numbers at the end)
makes it easy to remember
I don’t use Norton but do use McAfee have for years never had a Virus yet it has blocked a bunch though.
I hate Hackers! Why they don’t charge them with Federal Terrorisim charges is beyond me.
When they are caught they should be permanently banned from using the Internet forever! and prevented from having a PC in there home forever and if ever caught on a friends PC or family members PC put back in prison for another 10 years if not indefinitelyApril 7, 2009 at 4:03 am #13840Thanks Jimmo,
I have been at the bank all morning making sure my money was still actually there. I could not log in from a computer and it had a security alert on the site. Apparently someone tried to get on from a remote computer somewhere in Illinios and could not answer the securty questions and got locked out. My paypal account was locked up too and was trying to be accessed from Branson, MO. They only messed with e-mails related to this industry, which is kind of odd. Anyway they took my hard drive and are going to do a forensic something or other to it and get some IP addresses and other info if possible.
Again if any of you guys who may have e-mailed me and you received a nasty e-mail it was not me. This computer seems fine but the other two are fried.
Thanks guys!
