due to the expence of good clear on some of the cars i have to paint i was forced to use rubbrseal clear, tryed the euro, the glamor, and the speed clear, and all i can say is i find it to be total crap, it sprays like crap, it lays out like crap, it dies back like crap, it peels off if it bridges your masking tape, so basicly if you like this stuff more power to you but if you have never used it dont bother in my opinion, i got into an arguement with the salesman about it, told him it has no body, the guy tells me its not much different then spies clear!!!! lmfao i told him he needed to get his head examined, dont know what “cost effective” clears your useing but think ill stick to transtar till i find something better, any other sugestions?

We use both 4CR and Metalux on some of our used cars, both are relatively easy to spray, have good gloss, and seem to have good durablility.

We have been using Montana Clears for about 10 years. We use the CRV 22 for multi panels and 1900 for jambs and single panels. I have not had 1 issue with this clear. It cost us about $110.00 per gallon kit (includes hardener) . I mix it, set my gun and go.

I would use Nason 465 before I would ever use Rubber Seal. If your jobber has Spies do they get Nason?

If so use Spies reducer in it instead of the Nason reducer, which is crap.

What I have used that I likes was Acme FC720, U-tech 4.0 select, and the Nason 465.

Dont let Jason here that you like that 720. :hunt
But thats what I would go with. The 710 and 720 are cheap and work really well. you can get them through napa

720 isn’t my favorite but I didn’t have any issues with it. Still looks good. I have sprayed alot of Sherwin clears though. They are a little different to spray. For what it costs though it is a good deal.

My top 2 favourites are Lesonal Pro Air clear and Nason. The Lesonal is better than the Nason and probably more durable.

The Lesonal is great for air dry situations and has a few different activators so it is great for large jobs or spot repairs. I can just about gaurantee they you’ll like using it and love the finish.

yea i was just told by my jobber that they have that nason clear and it might fall under warrentee due to being in the same “family” i just had to voice my opinion of a product that i feel is garbadge and should be avoided if you can, the first time i used rubberseal i got a “bad batch” i was told, the clear went on with billions of fish eyes, aparently the people that they get there cans from did not wash them properly before the clear was added to the can, so fist use gave me a bad taste in my mouth, and they didnt make up for it in any way so i had 2 redos that day due to rubberseal, and mind you im painting up to 9 cars a day at the time of this incendent, thank you rubberseal!!!!

Another vote for Acme FC710 and 720!

not sure if you guys get it in the us but we use auto thane clear kits a lot, about 150aud per 4l kit. cheaper alternative is the de-beer 4l kit at 75$ but i hate this stuff, its very cheap, only good if you don’t mind cutting back the clear completely flat on the whole panel.
