Hi.
I’m Bill and I have no experience in body work and painting, but my income says I should learn a little about it. :cheer:
I just bought a Handicap van on the web for $1895. I’m on a fixed/limited income so I can’t afford to repair the paint which is really bad. Has anyone here heard of Plasti dip? I have seen youtube videos of guys painting their entire car with this stuff and it really looks good.June 20, 2012 at 12:32 am #37325It’s not very durable, long-term. Plus, I’m not sure if it’s UV stable. It might fail just from sitting outside.
June 20, 2012 at 6:49 am #37334Thanks. I hadn’t considered UV. I tried it on a really bad part on my plastic bumper. The plastic aged and cracked so I figured I didn’t have much to lose. It really looks great even though it is flat black. I didn’t use 5 coats as it reccomends and I can see it is very fragile. So I tried several more coats on a part that was already painted with it and it got really tough. I can imagine it getting very tough the more coats that go on. After all, look what it does to tool handles. Gonna get some more and experiment further. It certainly isn’t a real paint job, but probably as close as I’ll get with my fixed and limited income. I would still like to hear from others who might have some experience with it. Let you know.
