I know some of you would not approve of buying a used mixing system but its hard to buy new when your poor. anyway hes a pic of what I got to work with I got this whole system DBCGlobal for 1500.00 for everything in the picture :rock sadly had to drive for 22hrs to get it. :deadhorse

It started on ebay bougtht 10 Bottles of pearls $75.00 . then he said he had a bunch more and if I would Buy it all he would give me a good deal so I bought all he had for $250(so got full global system) next I looked on craigslist and found a DBC system ,with rack, computer, scale for $1500.00
I offered him $1000.00 and he said sure. so I put both systems on the rack I took the drive shaft out of the top row so they wont spin and on the last two shevles on the bottom have material packed behind the toners (need bigger rack lol). the only bad thing is there are 6 empty DBC toners that from my local jobber cost $1400.00 to replace(OMG!)found another global systerm on craigslist
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/pts/2045997949.html(I hear not so good stuff about global matching)
Sikkens Autobase system here
http://desmoines.craigslist.org/pts/1978841097.htmlI just searched all the cities around me. I just searched for “ppg” there maybe different brands but thats all I looked for.
The Global system sucks for color matching and coverage! The clears are awesome though. The dbc system is great on color matches and coverage, and there clears are great as well! Hate the modeling with dbc. I started mixing my base 2:1 rather than 1:1 which fixed my modeling. Thats a smoking deal on everything though! Wish I could run across deals like that.:rock
Global is hard to get rid of around here no one wants it.. If anyone is interested their is a complete machine with toners and computer for 800 in my area. Most toners are new unopened.. It isnt a great system, colors and coverage are bad.. But would work for a diy guy..
November 10, 2010 at 7:55 pm #25093Global isn’t the greatest system, that being said it’s far from the worst solvent system out there. Using the appropriate sealer I rarely had a color cover take more then 3 coats to get coverage. In my time using it I found it fairly easy to make it work for me. You got a pretty good deal man, once you have both systems complete you’ll be laughing. Just use your value shade sealers and do some sprayouts (and keep them) to make sure you don’t have to tint.

I used Global for a while too and had good success. Colour matches were good and I found it to be a fairly easy system to use.
