Dr. Seuss said, “It’s better to know how to learn than to know”.
Nothing against those who know, but I’m here to learn. I’ve read enough here to know this place ‘knows’. :teachHe also said, “everything stinks till it’s finished”. :compsmash I like that one.
Hello, all. I have never painted a car. But, I need to learn. I want to learn and do it myself. Just picked up a Miata 97 M, Marina Green Mica, no wrecks and just a few minor dings, but it has the ‘well known’ M Series clear coat cancer in a few spots. I plan to retain the same color code. But, that may change as I read more here. I like green for a sports car.
This is a project car that I plan to keep for the rest of my driving days (I’m 56). I don’t care so much about retaining it’s value as a collectable, but want it to look good.
Mostly gonna lurk :kofee till I get a basic knowledge base, then hope to ask a question or four… just wanted to stop by and say ‘Thanks’ for the access to your experiences and info.
Best regards,
ClydeMarch 4, 2012 at 11:55 pm #36122Thanks Smooth. I’ve seen your avatar a few times, haha… Reading a ton of stuff, watching vids and learning. I plan on investing in good tools (ex-carpenter) and trying to absorb all this. Back to the education… :teach
March 5, 2012 at 12:44 am #36127I chuckled and learned from a couple of your vids Bondo. :cheers Same to you .
Like the idea, that a plain old hard rubber sanding block, is a favorite. 😉
I like your vids.
Thanks for the welcome folks. Now I’ll shut up and listen..

March 5, 2012 at 2:12 am #36137I’ve noticed that moniker too, “Enjoying the fumes” … I love this place.
Specially the way you all treated the high school guy, going to the painting competition. Thumbs up !
Thanks for the welcome all. Makes me feel good.
