The painter at my work is off for a few days so I decided to paint a fender I fixed. Its a fender on a black GMC canyon. Sorry no pics.
I decided to use the shops Iwata spray guns to try em out. We use the Transtar no mix base so I don’t know if it just this stuff or if the LPH400 has something wrong with it. This stuff sprayed like rock guard. It would be nice and flat by the time it flashed. I only sprayed RM diamont solvent basecoat and it layed down right away.
I used Dupont snap clear. Used the W400 with LV4 cap. I had used one of these before. I sprayed close and fast and it was pretty effortless to get a nice finish. Reminds me of a Sata RP I used back when I used to paint frequently. Was back in 2004, whatever RP was out then, the shop I was at had one.I own a GTI so anything with speed I like. I find you have to fight that gun to spray clear.
The snap clear is dry pretty quick but needed more than the 5 min it said for flash time. It was still real wet after 5 min. My bosses are impressed.

Since the painter is not around I had my boss change a bunch of products that were being used as they were useless in our situation.

We’ll see if this stuff still has shine on it tomorrow :cheers

Can’t comment on the nomix transtar but the other low voc bases are pretty chunky looking and hard to blend.Welcome back to painting, maybe the other painter won’t come back and it could be your full time gig.If you get a chance take some pics of your shops set up and post them.Where are you from?
