In the market for a good poly primer, if anyone has some recommendations I’d appreciate it. I’m currently using glasurit’s and its pretty good but I’d like to try something else thats maybe better priced. If one exists that shoots through a 1.8 that would be ideal, I just started using them recently to help correct some sloppy bodywork for the most part. thanks!
September 3, 2008 at 12:15 am #11422evercoats feather fill g2. sprays nice. sands beautiful and is probably a lot cheaper than the glaso
BTW what are you using for sealer?September 3, 2008 at 1:02 am #11424i will second that that g2 is the best poly ive ever used an the price is nice 2:)
AnonymousSeptember 12, 2008 at 3:45 pm #11453I’ve got some on order, my jobber doesn’t normally carry it and its a pain to get in something they don’t carry. Cant beat their prices, service sucks,,,hopefully in next week.
September 15, 2008 at 6:14 am #11459well jimmo what do ya think of that stuff???? ive been expecting a full report on the pros an cons of this stuff vs the glaso witch im sure is an superior product followed up with a paint puck vid with a demo sooooo whats your take on it????
AnonymousSeptember 16, 2008 at 7:38 pm #11473I loved the stuff, it fills good, sands nice and I can spray it out of my existing 1.8. I found it pretty well the same as the glasurit, not much difference in terms of sandability… It did go on nicer and lay flatter.
Can anyone tell me if I can topcoat this stuff directly should the need arise??
September 16, 2008 at 8:08 pm #11474ive never done it but ive heard you can stuff probably has alot more solvent resistance than all the urethane based products so why not
AnonymousSeptember 16, 2008 at 9:00 pm #11475I know the glasso one said you needed to seal or prime, just have a used car here that I splashed a small spot on the fender with, I had some left over from another job I was doing and didn’t feel like mixing up a seperate batch of urethane for it since I had the poly in the gun.

AnonymousSeptember 23, 2008 at 5:14 am #11488Jimmo I would seal it no matter what.. you are talking about sprayable bodyfillers.. they are going to soak some in my opinion brotha.. besides, you can seal and shoot right over your sealer in 30 minutes.. worth those 30 minutes of insurance imo.. Plenty people have painted right over poly primers, however it is not something I would do for a quality repair..
Good to be back.. I have missed a few things:P
AnonymousSeptember 23, 2008 at 5:33 am #11489Thanks bondoking, thats what I plan on doing, just curious on my limits.. Glasurits says don’t topcoat, featherfill says ya can, i haven’t much experience with polyprimers so I’m just looking for some heads ups. Where have ya been these days anyhow? been wonderin what your up to, busy?
AnonymousSeptember 23, 2008 at 5:35 am #11490One more thing.. JimC at SPI, also known as Mrcleaner at Hotrodders swears by Marhyde poly primer.. says he likes it better than g2 or any of the others he has tried.. As you can see from the link below. his work is top shelf IMO

Yes I have been busy.. been painting 10 hours a day at work, then coming home and trying to get things together for the new baby on the way.. Been framing in the basement etc.. Then I get this little bumper piece job, not even a whole bumper and has turned into a nightmare.. lol lol lolI like the new look to the site!!!
Anyone else use Slicksand? Lots of build for blocking, easy sanding ( better than U-Tech’s 2K100 ) great for restos’. I have heard of some guys having problem with the activation, could be the 4 tubes of activator are causing some mixing ratio problems. I’m using SATA’s poly gun with a 2.5 tip, it really hoses it on, in hindsight I would have like to use a 2.0-2.2 to see if it breaks it up a bit better…I know some guys are reducing it ( with the recommended acetone ) and using a 1.7 with no problems other than fewer mil build obviously.
