I own a shop that does electronics, interiors and fabrication. I do body work on the side for my own personal vehicles, but as of yet I do not have a legal paint booth so I’m not taking on any body work for customers.
I have a friend who is interested in expanding my venture with me to be a full custom shop that does more welding and suspension, and of course body and paint.
The concept is all wages are paid based on a percentage of labor billed. We will do non-insurance body work; completes and restorations, billed weekly to avoid those long jobs without payment and no worries about unexpected issues on a car after an estimate is on paper.
I’m looking for the right person to come up here and work. Basically we have a market of 50,000 people and there isn’t a single body shop that does complete paint jobs. They all hate them and stick to popping dents and blending. I think a skilled painter and myself (I’m not!) could do really well.
Each division of the shop will be self supporting, and the company will be owned by employees.
Overall, the economy is good in Alaska, and the jobs pay well. Does anybody want a change of scenery and a new exciting job?
