My boss wants me to look into some prep stations. Basically wants to get rid of one of our old booths and try to get something in here that has the ability to recirculate the air when the fan is running. Right now we are using crossflows without any air makeup units and it kills the heat every time you click the fans on in the winter. I have never painted in one or even seen to many so I have no clue at what to be looking for or who makes something that might work for us. Anyone here have any advice?
Thanks
Chuck
Becoming very popular these day prep stations and moveble booths
Most spraybooth companys now seem to offer things like this http://bit.ly/1aa4dD8
You can’t do it. All that isocyanate laden air has to go outside and that means that you’re taking air from inside the shop and sucking cold air from outside. Only way is to have the booth intakes outside and then heat the air before it goes into the booth. Or, more heaters in the shop. Either way is expensive, I know because I have the same problem here.

I was looking at a couple on the internet last night that advertised recirculate capability something about 80/20 (80 percent of the air is recirculted and 20 percent goes out the stack. I also looked at some of the mobile prep stations where they have carbon filters and 100% of the air recirculates. I got ahold of our Sikkens jobber and I guess they sell them now so they are supposed to have a rep come talk to us. I have heard that alot of shops paint most of the jobs out of these things but I havent seen a whole lot of them in our area,.

That is a good option but think of the revenue you can gain with 2 booths,I would keep the old cross flow.Heck if you are going to buck up for an air make up unit I would definately pressurize it,much too valuable for priming.
