I’ve just recently started using the Presta polishing system and am quite impressed. Our shop was able to pick this up through our sherwin williams supplier as a complete kit at a very competitive price.

The kit came with three pads, 2 wool pads & 1 sponge/foam finishing pad. The compounds do their job very effectively but I was more impressed with the finishing pad. It can create a perfect, swirl/scratch-free finish on the darkest of colors.

Given the price difference compared to 3M, i find it a no-brainer. 3M has a good system too, but I found this one just as good at a fraction of the price.

if you didn’t get so much orange peel you would have to worry about buffing:laugh: . (Iknow this will get old soon but not yet)

We have been using it for about 6 months and I am very impressed, it seems to take less effort and does not sink back like some of the others. We have buffed a black lincoln complete and it sat outside in the sun and when we brought it back in we did not have to go over it again in some spots like other products.

Jimmo, I was wondering if you were still using the Presta products and if you still liked them after using them for a while? I have been interested in trying them but wanted some feedback first.

Ya I still use them, sorta interchange them with 3M stuff depending on what jobber I get my compound from that week. I tend to use 2-3 products, an extracut ,rubbing compound & swirl remover. I could care less if I was using Presta or 3M, both are good….but I would take the Presta polishing pads over 3M in a heartbeat. Plus presta is a much better value.

I’ve been wanting to try Presta, mainly because I was told they were one of the few
that doesn’t have glaze in their products.
That’s a big plus, glaze just hides the swirls and scratches only to be seen later
    after a few good washings.
So Presta would be the way to go.:)

Yes I am still using the Presta polishes. We had been using 3m but we did a black hood, wet sanded with 1500 and then polished one side with Presta and the other with 3m. We tested the finish by washing with wash reducer and the 3m side did show some sand scratches where as the Presta side was good. The big difference was in the time to get to the finished product, the Presta seems to cut quicker and holds out better. All in all both products were very close but Presta is more cost effective, the whole kit costing around 128.00. I am probably like everyone else in that I have all kinds of different polish products laying around but this seems to work for me,and being that I hate to polish unless the job calls for it the less effort the better.

I’ve been messing different products for a while now. Presta, 3M, and Meguiars are all excellent. The 3M Ultrafina should be
a must have in anyones arsenal… There are better, less popular, products out there (same price range $40/qt) that will
impress you. But, for stuff you can get locally, Presta and 3M products are fine. It really comes down to technique and a
good understanding of abrasives. Excellent reads below.

I use Meguairs #105 compound and the Solo kit pads.

Anyone who has used both the 105 and cutting creme, can you comment which one is better?

I might get the kit just for the pads. $150 for the whole kit seems like a good deal since 3M stuff would cost way more.

I also have the 3M ultrafina, about $45 each but its worth it!

Got the kit Saturday and tried it on a dark metallic green yesterday. (Kia H5 IIRC).

It works great, and I didn’t see any haze or swirls under sun.
    $150 is a GREAT deal!

I didn’t use the wax though.

They give a good deal on that kit, been using presta for quite a while now and am very happy with it. Still use a few 3M compounds but love the presta pads, the blue finishing pad is cat’s ass!

The only 3M stuff I have is the Ultrafina which is GREAT for dark colors (IIRC I paind close to $50 for it! Its worth it though), and 3M swirl remover which I don’t use at all since it hides the swirls.
