*will have pics for anyone interested*
I recently purchased a low mileage 17 year old honda civic that sat around for a few years.
I’m good with the mechanical stuff and am almost done fixing all the seized stuff but the body
is showing it’s age, mainly the rear quarters (typical). It’s going to need new panels and
I’m not good with bodywork.I’m looking for a long term solution, not a quick fix. Anyone interested? Any referrals?
I’m hoping to drive this car for at least 5 years.Thanks.
I recently fixed my 98 Civic’s qtr panel.
Mine is a coupe, there are patch panels available for the sedan
even found on Ebay, pretty reasonable, but not the coupe.
So I cut the meatal out of my quarters and part of the wheel tub and
glued new metal back in. (inside and outside)http://s626.photobucket.com/albums/tt350/JIMCLARKPAINT/CIVIC-RUST/
A new qtr panel would have been better but I didn’t want to spend the $700 it cost.
I think this will last a long time.
The key is getting it sealed, they tend to leak at the seam of the qtr panel
to whhel tub. The factory has a gasket there.
(I used agood seam sealer over epoxy, then epoxy and paint, then undercoating back side)
Once they start leaking, water and dirt gets in and hence the rust. - AuthorPosts
