Well I’m not sure if it was urethane or not.
But it was one of the most temperamental plastics I’ve ever shot.So I figured I’d post the pictures I said I would so you guys stop yankin my chain about it. :pcorn:
Anyways washed it down with Dawn.
Then hit it with wax and grease remover.
Sprayed it with a guide coat and blocked it down with 150 grit. It was actually quite pitted and wavy and ended up needing quite a bit of work… Luckily the entire thing is 1/8th to 3/8s” thick and there was plenty of material so it blocked fairly easy.Hand sanded it down with 360 grit to take out the 150 scratches.
Hit everything else and the underside with a grey scotch pad and 3m’s Scuff it (Good stuff, I will never again use a scotch pad without it!)
Sprayed it down with Valspars P2 Plastic cleaner twice, and wiped it down.
I used Bulldogs Adheision promoter/sealer tinted with 10% basecoat.
I sprayed the first coat a Medium/light coat as suggested by bulldog. And it instantly beaded up.
I suspected I’d have some trouble with it, so I shot the back side first to check. So luckily I didn’t actually have to correct anything. So anyways, I ended up misting three very light coats, then hit it with a medium coat.
And it worked out fine. Just needed a couple mist coats to sit on.Shot it with three coats of Omni Basecoat.
I could’ve got away with two, but I had to sand out a nib on my second coat. Then shot it with 15420 clearcoat.
Amazingly it turned out amazingly clean, practically nothing…
This is unusual for me, especially considering I had no tack rags and ended up tacking it with a microfiber cloth. :lol1
I did have to deal with a small run though… I hate shooting tunnels… It gets too difficult trying to mist in all the edges just enough that they level out without it running closer to the gun.Scraped out the run, and lightly hit the whole thing with 2500. and buffed it out.
