May 31, 2009 at 11:24 pm #14543Hello Han, The Mazda had Chinese SS paint, UK hardener U-POL and Italian reducer Palinal
The Toyota has a SS from South Africa and unknown hardener and reducer… They by the cheapest they can get and they mix everything.May 31, 2009 at 11:45 pm #14544Hi Jimmo, thats a Banana tree, the palms are at the entrance.

We have two seasons rain from end of September until end of May and now the dry season starts and it’s just overcast and a lot of dust in the air. Temp around 75-95
I just started out painting myself and for the moment I have a local painter do the bodywork and then he brings the car here for paint. I charge him $50 for the rent of my booth. He is a old school so when I gave him my LPH-400 to try he adjusted the fan to about 5″ and he sprayed from about 20″ I can get AKZO NOBEL’s Sikkens Autobase + and DYNA COAT Glasurit 55 PPG Autocolor. I recently found a hardware store selling U-POL products.
It’s cool to see how things are done all over the world. Maybe jimmo can put a world map with flags indicating
locations of forum members! Just a thought… 🙂Dag, what are your rates like? How much did you charge for those jobs? How is business overall?
I just started out with this as a side business. Friend of me had his Alfa Romeo resprayed and he paid a “pro” about $1100 for a color change including material. It was actually not very nice done, a lot of dust in the paint. There is not many places here witch has a paint booth. I believe there should be a market for someone who do a good job. One big problem here is to find material, for example I have only found one place who sells tack rags. one liter of Autobase + is $65, $50 for the hardener and $27 for reducer. The Chinese SS is $35 a liter U-pol primer 20:25 is $35 a liter and the clear 20:81 is $45 They asked $70 for 5 liter degreaser/silicone remover. Labor is cheap though I pay between $5-20 a day depending of their qualifications. The problem is that you have to be there all the time, they love to take shortcuts…
June 2, 2009 at 4:06 am #14557definitely cool to see someone doing work in another part of the world. great to see you trying to do nice stuff with less than ideal conditions. Even with newspaper thats a damn nice tape job. Keep it up Dag
