Have got a repair to do, have pulled and filled the dent and then sprayed with a spray putty/filler but reckon the hardener was suspect as i can still leave a fingerprint in it and it was put on a week ago, whats the best was to go about removing it ?

If it hasn’t cured by now you have to strip it,no way around it.

I think he was asking what the best way to remove it was
Try thinner see if it wipes off
    scrape it off
    sand it off

Not everyone has the same side effects as you…

as these guys said, you need to strip it. Just out of curiousitys sake, how warm was the vehicle when you where applying the primer and after it sat?

I suppose it was around 15 degrees celcius when sprayed on in the garage, Will try and rip it back with some 40 grit and get the space heater to warm the garage up a bit, don’t have the luxury of a proper booth.
    cheers for the help guys.
The damage itself left a bitter taste in my mouth, i had a couple of tiny little dents to repair (first pic) and have recently rented a large garage, so off i go on a saturday morning to the garage, driving into the garage and I catch the side of my camper on the garage door, so i end up with much worse damage in the same area (pic 2).
Spent all day pulling it out with my stud welder and have got to the stage in pic 3, then applied the spray filler.
have resigned myself to painting everything below the body line, but do you think id get away with a spot repair on the small dent just above the body line ?

sanding that off will really suck….

acetone will slowly eat it….. that will suck too. maybe paint stripper and hot pressure wash?

Heat it with a propane torch setup and hit it with a wire brush, dont heat it so much that you cause any more damage or warp anything but that should make fairly quick work of it. Also make sure you dont have anything that will catch fire right behind that panel and keep a fire extinguisher handy, I would keep a small air blower on hand to blow out any small issues that you might have.

Get some thick marigold rubber gloves, some gunwash and some paper towels and see if it will wipe off with some elbow grease.

id just grind it off lightly enough to remove the coating and reapply with a poly glaze

When things go bad I love to wash it off with gun wash if possible. Just makes life easier.

Besides, if the bodywork is fine, then you want to use a method that won’t ruin your filler work much.

Gave it a good soaking of gun wash and it came off fairly easily, gonna skip the spray filler so have spent a bit more time on the filler, all blocked up now and happy with it.
Ive blocked it down with 80, then 120, can I prime that now or would you give it a going over with say a 320.
There is a panel im going to blend the new paint into forward of the repair so i guess the correct way is to 800 the whole panel (or would a scotchpad be better), then paint and then fade out thinner. it’s a solid 2k white so no clear, or would it be worth clearing the panel as well to help with the blend ?

got the repair in primer today, tomorrow will be blocking the primer down, then washing the garage floor down ready for paint.
Is it worth giving it a coat of white sealer or just shoot the colour ?

id defenitly shoot some white sealer on it. it will help the color cover faster and seal the repair area. before that i would probably block sand the primer and apply another 2-3 coats of filler primer than block again. it looks like there are still some high and low spots to me. One thing you have going for you is that its white and white hides alot

Have just been and blocked primer down, all guide coat gone and no low spots (I gave it 4 coats of primer) I think it looks like there are some low spots in above pic because some of the primer had not flashed off at that point so looked a different shade.
I wetted the panel with water to give it a gloss and looked along it and it’s all looking fine so not sure if more primer would be needed ?
Would you use a specific sealer on it or could I just overthin some of the 2k colour to make a sealer ?
