May 23, 2009 at 7:45 pm #14429that looks like alota fun ding;) shoot the house looks ready ta move into now why fix it up???till the kids move out spend your money on the shop instead:silly: :silly: :silly:
Lots of potential in that place Ding lots of it
If it was me though I would have brought in a General contractor to fix and remodel it as you would want it.
For estimates any way so you could have thrown it all into one loan, That way you get it the way you want it.
Another reason to bring in the pro’s they see things that the unsuspecting buyer doesn’t.Nice place any way
3 phase power too? you lucky dog!!!!!! I would have bought the place just for that reason alone!May 24, 2009 at 5:27 pm #14455bank foreclosure. sold as is were is how is. the price i was a bargain in that town. the house needs a lot of work but my father-in-law who is one of those french canadians that can build anything is gonna help us out with it. free labor 😉

ehAnonymousMay 25, 2009 at 5:44 am #14465wow ding, that is a lot of space you’ve got…. I can see it seriously cutting into your refinish network time :lol
I don’t even know what I’d do with that kind of space, that workshop is sweet. You’ll have to keep us up to date on the reno’s, is it in the budget to overhaul it all right away or this a work in progress thing for the next 10 years.
May 25, 2009 at 4:56 pm #14471a cabinet maker used to own the house. Behind the locked door in the bar was his office and more storage space. The thing will be a work in progress. gonna get a few rooms set up enough so we can move in. then when my other house sells there will be more money to hopefully complete the inside of the house and some of the barn.
Nick, the house was a foreclosure. the power has been shut off all winter and the water was disconnected. that all helped in keeping the price down as not to many banks would write a mortgage on something like that. really just the land was worth what I paid for the whole thing. the cool part is the bank had a brand new furnace installed in January thats never even been fired yet. the roof is pretty new and most of the windows have recently been replaced.
We have to jack up some spots on the floors and brace them. the sheetrock is coming down so we can re-insulate the walls plus there is a little mold on them. mostly it is all cosmetic stuff.
Now if i could only talk the wife into renovating the barn first :wak

Make sure when you pull sheet rock too reinsulate you document that all the mold is killed with Bleach goes a long way when time to resell. My last house I sold had some Mold issues They killed me over it. :cens every one makes such a big deal out of it nowdays. :cens
