You guys, and Gin are shop owners/managers/painters, and the like, so i want your feedback as to what you think I should do…

Last week I got my Mazda 6 back from the shop that repaired the vandalism to my car. Essentially every panel had been keyed, minus the rear bumper.

The shop did a great job in repairing the car, and ended up spraying everything but the rear bumper. But my problem is that they hadn’t blended the bumper in, and it is more of a yellow “hue” than the rest of the car, and is noticeable not only to myself, but many others.

What should I do? Do i bring it back and ask them to blend it in for me, or do I leave it and suck it up? The car is practically my second wife, so I want it to look perfect as it did before it got damaged.

unless the clear has yellowed with time and can be buffed then I see no option. bumpers never match but if it’s that bad I personally(as a manager) would want it fixed and not running around town

front bumper was done with the rest of the car…looks perfect. the only one they didn’t do was the rear bumper and is very visable

I’d want you to come back and let me fix it if you aren’t happy B) the cost for me to do your bumper is minuscule in comparison to the damage it does to my rep.B)

It would depened, if it matches the effect around the rest of the car then maybe not (looks the same way the fender looks to the front bumper). I would probably do it anyway if the customer was unhappy. Post a picture.

I re-read your post and I guess it sounds like they blended the front but not the back, I would do it no question. In all honesty, I’d probably do the same, I may have attempted to match the quarter to the bumper, (especially if insurance refused to pay it.) But if myself or the customer was unhappy with it, I’d be blending. The whole bumper would need clearing to do it properly also.

If it looks that far off and others have noticed it then take it back. All the reputable shops would most likely fix the problem. If you and others noticed it,they probably did too but were hoping it would fly. My experience is that if I can see it and I would not be happy with it on my vehicle, its not good enough.

I think I would take it back and ask them to address the issue
even though they went all out
I would thank them on the fine job they did and even if they
said they would do it for a minimal charge it might work in your favour and they may do it for free
I did not see the estimate but they could have would probably have had enough in materials to do it
I know my guys squak when they do things for free but in a case like yours I would probably have paid the guys and ate it in my cost
I would go back and ask it never hurts
Espically if they got paid enough As all managers I would hate to loose a customer for so little
If there is any damage to bumper itself they may ask you to pay for that
    Hope this helps

No doubt, take it back. They can claim the back bumper wasn’t part of the repair (true), to which you can respond that you’d like them to make the front bumper not match the car the same way the rear bumper doesn’t.

It will be easier and less work for them to scuff and shoot the rear bumper.

Take it back as soon as their doors open.Should have sprayed the bumper anyway.

personally I would have painted the bumper no problem with the amount of time and as a goodwill to customer service……………but not everyone thinks the same
We just did a volks complete but did not do both bumpers not enough time and monies on estimate
So you could always call back but should have maybe negotiated in price from the start
Let me know what you decide…….but your bumpers always are a tad different in color anyway

Yep, I would take it and have them do the Bumper.
