Will welding warp this panel?

mentioned earlier was stitching an X to help with serious oil canning, when this is done should you weld the x while the metal is depressed down, or while it is popped out and continue trying to work with it, and do you grind the X away afterwards or wipe mud right over it?
IT WILL SHRINK!All welds shrink and weld putty,air,cold water etc doesnt help.You will have to hammer and dolly on dolly to raise the shrunk area then you can use filler.
