380!?!?! Cough!
sounds like a fun product to buy… :stoned
I like slicksand just fine and it’s half the price.
January 13, 2011 at 11:28 am #27125those clean and strip discs are incredible. I don’t hardly use wire anymore for that type of operation.
January 13, 2011 at 11:24 am #27124I havent tried the marson platinum, but the mid-grade stuff from them did not impress me.
I’m sure I’m in the group that’s been using evercoat for ever.
I have had mixed success with various Upol products, but the stuff is sure cheap! unfortunately I’m stuck with the products I can get locally, and upol is not…
January 12, 2011 at 7:37 am #27079I pile on a giant glob of filler, and use a cheese grater or 36 grit on a hand block to get it down close to the right shape :rock
I’ve never had a problem with paper clogging :dnc
rage extreme is wonderful stuff. I’ve never had a pinhole problem with it that primer won’t fill. I have been using the evercoat metal glaze with good success, but I haven’t tried all these brands you guys are mentioning….
January 10, 2011 at 11:05 am #26991I’d sure be hesitant to fix a bumper when I could replace it
I have a funny little town – I only paint my own stuff, so I can sit back and speculate on the real body shops around here
They DO NOT quote/bid plastic repairs. replacement at all times. a big enough scuff, replace it. there are 2 shops, both do the same thing. insurance companies hate it, but they’re stuck. they make the car-owners get a quote from both – you can’t just go to the insurance guy to run his paint marker down it. There is none of them in town!
January 10, 2011 at 11:00 am #26990nice Brian
have you blended anything yet? I was always afraid to blend, but much more afraid to paint a whole panel and risk a bad match…..
that looks like a great match in the pics
January 6, 2011 at 12:35 pm #26865Gershon! that’s the one. cheaper version of PPS. that’s what I’ll get, as soon as I get the disposable primer gun from 3m.
January 6, 2011 at 3:17 am #26848they’re not near as clean to setup and use as a disposable cup with a liner, but they do work.
it’s the cheapo method. that’s why I chose them in the first place :dnc
January 5, 2011 at 11:26 pm #26843I have the Devilbiss liners, and they work, but they’re pretty ghetto. I plan to get some PPS cups, or whatever the cheaper version of them is that somebody mentioned here a while back.
I’ll still use the bags for spraying contact cement and primers
January 5, 2011 at 4:31 am #26830I think once your bondo is blocked out nicely I’d put a couple coats of epoxy down to seal it up good, then a few coats of slicksand. I love that stuff. you can use a urethane primer sealer after than to make sure it’s perfect before base coat.
January 5, 2011 at 4:28 am #26829that’s looking real good. You’re so much better at spreading that mud than I am. I look liked I smear it on there with a ford. :wak
January 4, 2011 at 12:23 pm #268165887 eh? I got the 5885 thinking it was basically the same as 5887. in fact I don’t recall why, since it’s been quite a while. the 5885 is supposed to be ‘easy sand’ too. hmm I’ll have to give it another shot.
January 4, 2011 at 3:12 am #26800honestly I doubt that car will need the whole thing skimmed. block out the old paint, assuming it’s adhere properly, and get the whole thing into epoxy primer. then block and fill as needed.
January 4, 2011 at 3:10 am #26799yeah what is the part number?
rubber boot is exactly what it’s like sanding the epoxy-based crap.
