looks pretty good there jimmo. looks like you brought the darker color down a little more than you wanted to though. at least you took the lights out;) trunk musta been tough to paint with that spoiler on.
overall its a nice effect. you should be happy:)
I don’t know if this will help any Jimmo, but when I do fades like that I try to use base colors that have the same pearls in them. Also, see if you can paint the back doors shut,LOL!
maybe he should weld them first:laugh:

i would get the silver base down first then start with your top and bottom colors.get coverage with the dark color only in the center of the panels then cut it back with clear base to smoke out the blend. leave it real transparent. its better to have to put an extra coat on than to have to try and take some off. you may have to switch back and forth between colors to get a nice soft even blend.and when you think”well maybe just one more coat on the blend area” stop first take a break and come back and look at it. its easy to overdo it and wind up with a not soft soft blend. save the pearl coat for last.

the fade down looks pretty neat on the tahoe but i dont think the sunfire is tall enough to pull off a good looking one. I’m kinda partial to flames myself or you could do some crazy multicolored graphic

Has anyone else ever redeemed a perk from them, and do you think their days are numbered?
I stopped collecting them along time ago. it was too much of a hassle to enter them and you needed like 2500 points just to get the crappiest thing. to get anything good it would have taken forever

I kinda liked the most recent setup you had going. its diff than the other forums but it kinda feels like home.;)
all the forums have been a little slow lately. you need newbies to keep the post count up asking if their 1/2 hp compressor is enough to paint an entire car.
it’ll take time to build up. been less than a year. lots of vistors come check. just need to get them to sign up
Well boys I have just come to the conclusion that I will never get clean paint jobs out of here.. That damn hood has too much dirt in it.. Seems like more this morning than it did last night.. got to sand and buff it.. CRAP.. just what this car needed  😛

    Never again Dinger:evil:

after its sanded it will get the engine bay cleaned, new spark plugs, wires and an air filter.. He is bringing it back next friday for a new rear bumper, taillight and quarter extention.. shame he does not fix the quarter panel and door:P
BK. did you mask off the underside of the hood as well or just the engine bay. you can get clean jobs out of a garage and dirty jobs out of a booth. most dirt comes from the car itself. When you mask, dont do it to keep paint off of the car, do it to keep dirt from coming off the car into your paint. seal everything off that you can.

dont worry. once it gets dirty you dont notice the pearl:blush: see i shamed you into painting the parts on the car too:P

Jimmo glad things went well for you.. I also thought of you when I taped up the car and the front end instead of removing stuff:evil: I have considered removing the fender and hood so I can hang them and not have to buff it.. What do yall think??

paint parts on car and have to buff, or unbolt parts, hang then paint and not have to buff?? still got to reinstall them though:huh:

Everything in 2k and sanded with P600.. two hours between last coat and sanding.. I sanded it wet
Will buzz over it with a P400 and soft interface before I shoot it as it still has texture.. I just sanded it wet with the P600 to speed the drying/curing process.. you know moisture kicks iso’s, so a high moisture content ( read wet sanding ) will help it cure faster.. I also added in some accelerator to the primer.. Gosh dang whats with me being in a hurry:woohoo: :woohoo:
if you tape properly you wont get anymore dirt painting on the car than off. sometimes i wind up with dirtier jobs when i paint off the car:blush:
