I’m asking questions because being better than 50% of shops is not good enough for me, I’ll be done improving once I’m better than 100% of the shops. If you don’t think like that then this thread is not the thread for you. I’m sure many people are in the same boat as me and are not happy with where they currently are and only those people will have a use for this thread.

And let’s not get anything twisted. I did not insult anybody, in fact I was insulted repeatably and my rebuttal to those people was nothing but humble. The reason why I did this was not because I care more for your feelings than you do mine but because I really really want to learn what you all have to teach.

    Thank you.
Sorry dude but you started the tread complaining that you bought a gun that “everyone” said was the gun to get to produce a glass finish. and on only your second car the gun did not produce the results it was supposed. we all told you it was not the guns fault, and anything close to a glass finish is only achieved through experience, and that there are way to many factors involved in the gun set up to give you a one size fits all adjustment. you couldnt handle that and came back calling on Jesus for some reason and didnt seem to understand why if the iwata was the one and only holy grail gun, that everyone else wasnt on board. So maybe when you come to a firm grip on reality and get your head out of your ass, then we can help you out :pcorn:

Jesus. This is why I made multiple posts all over the internet and talked with suppliers to come to what I thought would be the best gun for shooting flat and they told me 1.3 hybrid… I just don’t understand why not everyone is on the same page. If there’s one correct way to spray and one best gun to use, how come the community has not figured this out? I don’t understand why there should ever be any kind of confusion.
NO 2 PEOPLE SAY THE SAME THING… WTF!!!!!!!
This is the problem with kids entering this trade today. they think they can go to tech school and come out and get a job at a shop right along side of a seasoned tech and get the same pay. they feel they are too good to start at the bottom like everyone else did. They think that even though they dont have any experience, they can ask around and buy a $500 spray gun and it will make them look like a pro. Thats the problem today. They are too damn lazy to practice practice practice, learn learn learn, and put the kind of time in that it actually takes to become good at this trade.
Instead of crying about what the gun didnt do for you, Take the damn time and learn what you can do with the gun.

I’m really anal about orange peel on my cars and this one really isn’t bad at all but I’m on a quest for the perfectly flat paint job and I thought I would be able to do a little better on my first try with this gun.
For my basecoat I used Matrix Systems paint and for my clearcoat I used Refinish Solutions 2.1 VOC urethane clear coat (RSC-320). !
That’s a tall request for the cheapest paint on the market, why 2.1 clear anyway?
Matrix is not the cheapest paint on the market :deadhorse and i can spray any of their clears like glass. The 220 is an easier clear if you are not in a compliant area :flamewar
Ya but he didnt use Matrix Clear :pcorn:

it does look like a nice compressor. when i put my mine in i couldnt find a good rotary screw that ran on single phase. so i went with a curtis masterline 15hp piston. with the airdryer i believe it ran around 7500-8000. just remember, the screw compressors are a lot more expensive to maintain and repair if something goes wrong. they also work better when they run more. realistically with only 2 guys in the shop there will be very few times that you will even approach maxing out the air usage

    January 15, 2012 at 7:02 am #35302

get a 15hp piston for the same price or less than the 7.5 rotary screw
