thanks everyone.
The spray foam was a little stressfull. Paid my brother-in-law for all the material. He didnt show up when he was supposed to. when he did he only sprayed the first floor and it looked like silly string. then he never came back (good thing actually) so i hired some one else to do the second and third floor. What a diff between the 2 applications.
Hopefully it will be done enough to move in in a few months :whistle:November 26, 2010 at 9:13 pm #25580
http://www.refinishnetwork.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=36&id=2321&Itemid=285
that is what the ez-edger does ben. Here is a post I made a while ago about how to do it by hand
Figures Ryan made a post about doing it by hand :rofl :rofl :roflNovember 25, 2010 at 2:25 am #25534looks good for your first job. and dave did good on the sand and polish :cheers
November 24, 2010 at 4:49 pm #25524seems most of the basf clears are like that when you bake them. you really need to let them tack up for 10 minutes or so before hitting the bake cycle. 109 and 255 are a little bit better and holding on
November 23, 2010 at 11:42 pm #25499

with 2 booths and a good prepper 9 cars isnt unreasonable
he said I……….. :clappy
not a big deal…… nevermind…
Sorry to get your panties in a bunch there Timbo. I was responding to Stone
But since you brought it up, you’re correct. He did say I.
He said I was painting up to 9 cars a day. Which if he was in the booth with the gun pulling the trigger, I would be the proper statement. I dont recall him saying he sanded, washed, wiped down, taped and painted 9 cars a day. He just said he painted them. :deadhorse :deadhorse :deadhorse
But you’re right. No big deal.. Nevermind :stonedNovember 20, 2010 at 7:07 pm #25303Hood looks nice. :rock
There is a good variety of people here from resto to collision to custom. We appreciate all kinds of work :cheersNovember 20, 2010 at 7:02 pm #25302
I would use Nason 465 before I would ever use Rubber Seal. If your jobber has Spies do they get Nason?
If so use Spies reducer in it instead of the Nason reducer, which is crap.
What I have used that I likes was Acme FC720, U-tech 4.0 select, and the Nason 465.
Dont let Jason here that you like that 720. :hunt
But thats what I would go with. The 710 and 720 are cheap and work really well. you can get them through napaNovember 20, 2010 at 6:56 pm #25301
I usually go for the brunettes with fake boobs and a tramp stamp! ;)
:dnc :dnc :dncNovember 20, 2010 at 2:50 am #25255I use 55 line and havent had any major coverage issues. I do order diamont when I do completes just cause its a lot cheaper to buy a gallon of that than the 55 line and never had to use 5-6 coats for coverage. usually 2 was good and did a 3rd for good measure. were you reducing the diamont 2:1 or 1:1 stone?
November 12, 2010 at 2:25 am #2511320k a month and you deserve a big discount. around here sikkens and 55 line are the most expensive. Deltron, Dupont and Diamont are around the same price. I’ve used chromabase, chroma premier, DBC and 55 line and some diamont and prefer the basf lines over the others. They all worked but basf seems to match easier for me.
November 11, 2010 at 3:42 am #25099
How do you clean a paint gun? :deadhorse
but seriously,
I have gun cleaning down, and I can mix things fine, but my area for doing this is on the floor with a pile of crap all over the place. spilled thinner, paint drips, a stack of tech sheets, and horrible waste of materials… I’d like to see some pics of the area you pros are working in .My dream is Jimmo will post up a video of somebody mixing paint and cleaning the gun and area!
any pics at least?
thanks
sounds like most mixing rooms 😉November 4, 2010 at 1:07 am #24925I sprayed a pearl white firebird in my booth at 55 degrees for a guy that had bought all cold weather reducer cause he was going to paint it in his garage then changed his mind. He didnt have any extra cash to buy the right stuff so he got what he got. Also only had 2 quarts of clear left to do the whole car . It turned out as good as it could. My poor hand was cold from holding that gun in those temps though
