May 18, 2009 at 11:17 pm #14370the transtar rep told the painter that he had a bad batch and the new can of clear they gave him to try was out of a diff batch # where the problem had been solved. Yet when he sprayed it he had the same issue so he put a coat of DCU2042 over the top and they disappeared. He sprays 2-3 cars a day and only had an issue when using the few times he tried that clear. He also tried some of the euro clear with no issues.
May 16, 2009 at 6:07 am #14336just spoke to a kid that paints at a dealership. he said the transtar rep gave them some clear to try and it fisheyed on him. he told the rep and the rep took the clear had it analized, gave him a replacement batch and he had the same problem. if i were you i would try some cp440 primer from napa and some 15410 or 15420 clear as well. i have put those products up against glaso products and can see no diff.
May 13, 2009 at 7:22 pm #14304Buy it is a good plan. actually getting the part though is gonna be tougher so many things are on back order with no release dates. talked to a guy at from a chevy dealer yeasterday. he said there are 17 chevy dealers left in Connecticut and GM wants only 9 dealers in the state. so 8 more are gonna be closing up in the near future.
May 12, 2009 at 1:07 am #14296ya. the diff is in the quality of the solvents they put in. seems there are more dieback type issues when a lower quality solvent is used. also the paint doesnt flow out quite as nice either.
