ok I’m not planning to get that compressor that is the compressor i have and it works great for us we have had it about 3 years and we use the heck out of it a lot running it about 6 to 7 hours grinding but i someone said something about i need to get a dryer or something whats a good one that don’t cost much i know the more money you spend the better but im really only painting my truck and like i said before i do want to spend $1000 oh something that i will use once

Im not planning on using a grinder i do my sanding with a block and hand

and for what my conditions are by using my garage with plastic put up and not great but ok ventilation what
a good primer i should use
    a good sealer be
a good base color i was planing on using this one http://www.paintforcars.com/aep_metblack.html
    a good clear coat

if my metallic black is good it would be cool to get the rest of the paint at that site

I don’t have a lot of money to spend on this and so please show me cheap but good stuff and i don’t me the cheapest but the good stuff that isn’t that much

well i get the sanding now i just need paint
    primer/sealer/base/clear

now for the supplies and remember i know the more you pay the better the product but more than likely I am only going to be painting my truck and that is it so i don’t want to spend $1000 dollars to use something once.
    i have a compressor its a :
    Craftsman
    150 PSI
    6HP max – 2HP running – 33 Gal
    single cylinder/oil free
    air delivery:
    8.6 scfm at 40 PSI
    6.4 scfm at 80 PSI

    I was thinking this gun

I’m not really that scared of this to much i know what I am doing spraying wise. this isn’t my first time spraying painting a car. So I got that i just need help picking out the paint and what tips i need and what to sand with.
I’m not all a beginner that y’all think i am.

ok so what would a good primer for me to use
if im in a regular garage with plastic put up and what kind of tip do i need for the gun and what grit sand paper do i need to use before spraying the primer and after the primer

well the paint has some chips in it down to the metal in some places what do i do about that

    August 31, 2009 at 3:28 am #15596

well im replacing all the fenders and hood and hood mounts
the first think though is what grit sand paper do i need to start sanding with and end with before the primer

    August 31, 2009 at 2:25 am #15593

i know I’m doing all that i want to do it as right as possible

    August 31, 2009 at 12:46 am #15591

everything is fine its the hood that is the only thing out of alignment and thats cause off the mounts and that one fender is twisted

and no im going to get rid of that color completely thats why im painting it
    im making it metallic black

Here are some pictures and all of the body damage to the car but I’m planning on putting all new panels on the front (both side quarter panels, and hood)
the car has no rust at all
when my mom bought the truck the body was perfect i caused the damage when i went off the road into a 3 ft ditch and the front end flexed and went back in place the frame is fine.

I am a real fast learner and i get things real easy just first got to know what to do and how to

and i want to do this right and get a good paint job
iv been reading a lot about painting cars but i still am missing stuff
    like sanding
i get most the painting but the only thing im missing there is what kind of tips ill need and stuff like that
i know with metallic you do a pass from left to right and then up to down to get it to look right
what kind of pics do you mean
of my truck or the garage
