Hows the durability on that Napa clear? Does it have an amber cast to it??
Hey guys I have a New B question, where do you guys get your door skins from,I searched for door skins but I only find whole replacement doors, can door skins be ordered from the Stealership?
Stealerships only… Around $280 for a skin and 6-7 hours to install;
list and book times. But a good used door can be cheaper and faster.
Sometimes…
I use to think that higher priced always meant better but not so much anymore. I was told by a guy at Dupont school that for a gallon of clear the can cost more than what was inside. Alot of the cost is in the marketing, R&D, lifetime warranty, employees, and putting their name on a race car.
ABSOLUTELY true. This is not public knowledge at all. Another example
would be sunglasses; The packaging costs more than the $200+ price tag
of say…Oakley, Varney, or any other spendy pair of plastics. Got this
info. nearly 20 years ago from someone working for Varney; maybe $0.10
in plastic material but $0.75 in the packaging!! Got more examples
but ya get the idea…

Consider all things we buy. Look around your home/shop…how much do
we pay for a role of 3M masking tape? This paranoia goes on and on.
It’s much easier to not think about these things and just buy into
the propaganda spread by large corporations; which IMO are all corrupt.
Think Enron, AIG, Wall Street, etc…

Granted, there is a quality difference with higher priced clears but
how much?? Who do you trust? And that’s what it comes down to. So,
i don’t mind shooting a $100 dollar SPI clear on a 100K+ dollar
car. The trust and quality is proven.

However… If you want pretty damn close to perfect (IMO).
Get the SPI MS clear. It’s similar to the 7311 but it’s clear clear.

Not quite black but it looks fantastic.

It buffs really well. Slightly on the softer side. And durability seems
very good too. You have it, use it.

I’ve been using my NR2000 for 7 years. It’s beat up but still shoots
great. And only 1 rebuild which it didn’t even need. Damn good gun.

But if you want to try something new, go for it! One can never have
too many guns. 😛

Since you’re shooting the entire truck, it’ll look fine.
99% of folks wont be able to tell. It’s a good looking clear.

Bumper, hood and the entire drivers side was painted.
i used ta use the same one yrs back not bad stuff i would put some of there accelerator in it an it seemed ta work pretty nice didnt care for their kwick clear though that stuff seemed a bit on the twitchy side
I’ve tried all there other clears…they all suck, except this 7021/7311.
Tried most of there primers too…again, crap.

January 29, 2010 at 8:30 pm #19036

Thanks Mo! This side was repaired and refinished before. Badly done too.
Clear coat failure along the top edges and serious filler on the quarter.
Something insurance wont pay for…

Capa quality is all over the place. Generally it’s better.

January 29, 2010 at 8:22 pm #19035

Yes, i’ve used lots of it and it does hold up well. But with the amber
cast, it’s not good for collision/spot jobs. I payed around a $130/kit
and you get nearly 2 gallons; not bad for the money. But if color matches
are important to you, then use a “clear” clear (SPI).

I’ve read a while ago that the amber cast was to help with UV protection
in lower end clears…

Try the non capa fender. Half the price ($65+/-) and better fit.

Had the same issue on this one. It’s 2000 but should fit. Needed some
minor tweaking still…

Bad, or no prep, poor technique with cheap paint. Basically, everything
was done wrong. Dry spraying the base…every corner cut…

Call the owner and have him come by and explain things to him.

In the future, always be suspicious of prior work and don’t offer
a guarantee of any kind; unless original or over your own work.
Gotta 99 integra with a really crappy paint job that i have to work
on with massive/dull orange peel. It’s a quick budget job sop it’s ok…
