Yes a 1.4 in a new 5000,I prefer a 1.4 in all variations of the RP for sikkens.

You could keep your eyes on ebay for a nozzle set,now that the new 5000’s are out you can probably get 4000 parts a bit cheaper like a 1.3 or a 1.4 for $150-$200.If the gun is in nice shape I would just change the nozzle set,if you do get a used gun you always run the risk of it being clapped out.

You could also run it at 32 psi and turn the material knob in a turn or so and see how it goes, not ideal but it will work. The 4000 is not as fast as the earlier versions but its not super slow either,it does lay down a smooth finish.A 1.4 in a 4000 is comparable to a 1.3 in the 3000,it really depends how you like to spray and either one will work fine. You could also just sell it and get what you want or get a new 5000,I have been spraying with one for the last 3 weeks and have been pretty happy with it.

IMO a fast gun is defined as putting out a large amount of fluid but still atomizes the product very well.A fast gun will allow you to use either a 50% overlap or 75% and still move at a great pace. There is nothing wrong with the guns you have, the gti pro’s have a great reputation.A sata 3000 rp with a 1.4 is a fast gun,the 1.3 is not too bad.I would just use whatever your comfortable with.If the rp puts out too much for you or makes it look thick jack up your air pressure, move in closer to the panel, move faster.

We lost our utech system at the end of June, our supplier was starting to have trouble getting tinters as they are discontinuing the system by the end of the year. Not sure I can help you much, but the 3.5 was pretty good,I would think that 350 will very similar.I have heard good things about the new utech system but haven’t shot it.Please let me know how it works for you.You should still be able to get the old stuff until the end of the year,so I’m told.

Inside the ducting before the fresh air intake fan are a set of prefilters. Then the air goes past the burner into the plenum and into the ceiling filters as it enters the cabin. Most of the newer booths will have the fans and ductwork/air make up on the side.

No there are pre-filters before the air goes into the intake fan then it goes past the burner into the plenum into the ceiling filters and enters the booth.
Most of the new booths have everything off to the side kind of like this one.

We have one of each at the shop I work at.The 30 year old homemade downdraft has the air make up on the roof and no prefilter before the intake filters. The new one does and it seems to work ok,Im not convinced that it really makes a difference. It also depends what kind of booth you put in,our newer one has the air makeup/exhaust /prefilters on the side of the booth so a low roof is not a concern.

ICBC makes up lots of their times (particularly paint) instead of following estimating programs like adp and mitchell. So to answer your question no,they are a little bit different.I have been in this trade close to 30 years and flat rate is kind of a joke these days as the times are cut back form before. The only guys that do well are the guys that just spray,in a well organized shop with some helpers and a good flow of work it is not hard to do 300-400hrs a month. Some shops offer a team system or a straight time with a bonus offered when production goals are met.Shop around and do your homework before you commit.Where are you from and where are you looking in Alberta??

I have been using it for almost a year and the old 3 pack superior 5 years before that.I have done many completes(trucks, large cars, vans etc) with it and it stays open longer than the 3pack,sprays a little nicer too IMO.I think you will be happy with it.
