Glad its going good for you,but keep in mind its the honeymoon stage right now 😛 Don’t kid yourself there is not much difference between a dealership or a big chain franchise like carstar etc.I think the most comfortable place to work is a large independent, just my 2 cents.
September 16, 2012 at 8:44 pm #38314Thats great Andy glad its working out for you 😉 Now you need to try a first gen RP that came out the same time as the NR 2000,I bet you wouldn’t mess with your iwatas anymore :p
September 16, 2012 at 4:07 am #38308Good for you Andy,I don’t thinkl you could find a nicer base coat gun than an NR 2000,they still work pretty good.
September 14, 2012 at 3:41 am #38279Don’t take this the wrong way but most shops will not paint over body work that wasn’t done by them.
September 8, 2012 at 3:13 am #38232I have been using RP’s for over 10 years really haven’t seen anything better IMO.I use a combo of teknas rp’s(first gen and a 4000) and an old jet 90.Iwatas are nice but they just don’t work for my style, what ever works for you that turns out consistent work is the best gun.
I guess I’m old school but I don’t care if its a truck/car/beater I like then to be shiny and waveless 😉

September 5, 2012 at 6:13 am #38175I forget the exact code of that color but it is a piece of cake to match and blend,I have done it numerous times. There are different variants for the same color(lighter, darker coarser, redder, bluer, yellower etc) The idea with blending is to trick the human eye by seeing some of the old color through the new color.Search the site for videos on blending paint they will show you much easier than I can explain.Color match with waterborne is far superior than solvent,I also live in Canada and its a non issue.
September 3, 2012 at 1:01 am #38127How about one of these that could serve a couple of purposes 😛 😛 😛

August 30, 2012 at 3:44 am #38089Smooth is right replacement is much faster and easier.I would use some fusor 142 and some mesh screen to reinforce the backside and some upol bumper putty on the outside(forget the name).Keep in mind you have to bevel the edges of the crack and sand the backside and apply adhesion promoter. Its easier for you to go and watch some fusor repair vids on youtube for the proper way,its all about prep so the repair will stick.
AS far as your gun its nothing personal I just don’t like it 😉 It has nothing to do with you 😛This vid is old but the basic technique is still there, even though I have tweaked a few things.

August 27, 2012 at 4:54 am #38067Thats a great alternative and you won’t break any rules. It doesn’t matter if its a turbine or compressor you are still doing stuff in a residential area that someone is watching :S
August 25, 2012 at 6:15 am #38047No its common sense, don’t do sanding or bodywork in a booth.I have worked in big shops all the way down to 3 man tiny shops and nobody has sanded in a booth.I might scratch pad a blend panel or touch up some shiny spots but thats it.Its tough enough to keep them clean as it is.
August 23, 2012 at 6:19 am #38007Haven’t you painted that yet  Geez man about 6 different people have told you how to do it,its not that hard 😛
August 23, 2012 at 4:25 am #37994Nope sorry……not my cup of tea.Is that why ya came here to pimp yourself :S
