Do you have problems with the sand thrus showing in your top coat? Look forward to seeing it done, don’t forget to walk the side when you do your midcoat :stoned and careful with your overlaps, and edges 😉
January 15, 2011 at 7:04 am #27197That looks like a very nice job, glad things are working out for you.Good luck with Autowave,it is an easy system to use, just telling the truth :clappy I did second year at SAIT with guy who worked at that shop, small world :cheers
January 13, 2011 at 10:00 am #27123It’s kind of like comparing European paint to north american paint…kind of the same but different with the European product getting the edge.Sands easier, spreads easier, not as brittle as evercoat fillers,IMO there is no comparison between the two.I’m not a fan of evercoat fillers anymore, there are better products out there, like USC or Marson or Upol.Give them a try and see what you like, unfortunately evercoat has been the standard for so long everybody forgets about the other companies that make fillers and putties.
January 12, 2011 at 7:49 am #27081Actually Ben carsystem Eurogold is re-packaged rage gold.Upol flyweight gold is European and made in the UK 2 very different products 😉
January 12, 2011 at 6:28 am #27072Some times the resin will settle and separate,if you take the top off and mix it with a coat hanger or screwdriver it will help.Nothing worse than squeezing out some putty and most of it is resin, that can cause the film.IMO the best flowable putty is upol dolphin glaze or liquid gold, the evercoat stuff just seems like it is going downhill.I would rather use marson platinum or USC progold ES for filler and upol for putty.
January 12, 2011 at 5:50 am #27069If he walks in and sprays he should only get 30%,most of the hard work is done, all he has to do is blow, tack, mix, spray.Talk to your boss about that or do what others have suggested, prep and paint your own jobs.
January 12, 2011 at 4:34 am #27061What does the painter do exactly?Does he just walk in and spray or does he help prep and mask? The percentages are different depending on what he does.Try and talk to your boss,Stone gave very sound advice 😉
January 10, 2011 at 7:05 am #26978wow Ding, that is unreal how much work you guys have done on that house,I can see you have made lots of progress :cheers That is going to be awesome when you are done, can’t wait to see it 😉 The hair nation with Dokken in the background”breakin the chains”was off the hook :clappy
December 30, 2010 at 8:53 am #26597The more experienced you get you will be able to watch the paint going onto the surface, first coat should always be medium wet with no dry spots. It is just a habit of mine after I put on my first coat to check and make sure everything looks good with even coverage, and there are no dry spots, you don’t want to get in the habit of double coating, that will kick you in the balls.Once you can touch your clear with your finger and it feels dry and not stringy(hand slick) you can hammer on your second coat.
