Even though that is a great red a ford color on a 69 camaro is wrong  Why don’t you look at 1970 GM code 75 (cranberry red)it is a very deep red and not orange looking at all. There must be a ton of 70 chevelles painted that color :stoned Or gm wa 9260,porshe guards red isn’t too bad,I don’t think it is orange looking either, but it has been awhile since I have seen it.Kind of ironic that the chevelle in my avatar is code 75 :rofl

Oh man I would be very leary of limco, color match is always an issue with lower lines. You should have been demoing different systems to find what works for you, nothing like waiting until the last minute :stoned Hope it works out for ya,that would suck having to tint every color.I’m with DT and the others try waterborne and stop being so stubborn 😉

Well hate to say I told ya so….. Spraying at 45psi is not going to save you any material and defeats the purpose. If this swap was a go sata would have said it was a go a long time ago.The only hvlp I know that you can change to a compliant gun is the Devilbiss GTI to a Devilbiss Plus by changing the fluid tip and air cap.

Spraying sealer isn’t going to show anything, clear is what you need to try it on.The “black thingy” is called an air distribution ring.I thought there was a brass restictor up inside the handle where the air inlet is.Very interesting try some clear next.

My supplier in Calgary has a couple 4000’s,it is just a matter of time before I get to give one a real good work out 😉 Keep in mind those are retail prices and I will beat my supplier down :chair on price like $20 over cost. Will let you guys know :rock

What is the point to this experiment and what are you gaining :deadhorse ?The handles are made differently and one has air restrictions,it will spray like you are using 20 psi which equals to a corn on the cob appearence :rofl With the 4000’s minute away from coming onto the market for what you will pay for a nozzle set you could buy a 3000 gun that is new for less.Have fun 😉

Oh I hear ya bumpers really suck, sometimes I will have 4 bumper covers in the booth and 4 different colors  As far as time goes we are all straight time but I have done as much as 22 plus hrs in one 8hr day.We do all our own masking so if I do 3-5 jobs a day it is a good day for me.When I have help and the other painter is gone and I have 2 booths I have done as many as 10 plus jobs in one day….production painting does get old sometimes

I never found a difference between the 2 except for cost, they spray the same IMO.The global primers suck compared to k38,and the clear 894 was nice but no better than concept 2021 which was one of my favorite clears back in the day.

We get it from napa in Lethbridge who gets it from a napa in Calgary. Not sure which one,I will find out tomorrow,we do have a ppg delfleet system and nothing has changed with it either.

Well our customers always say they want imron…until they realize what it costs, our cost on peterbuilt radiant fire red(forget the code)is almost $300 a litre :wak I’m in Canada too and our supplier has told us nothing about imron changing,I’m pretty sure it falls under industrial so the new automotive law doesn’t apply to us,we can still get 5000/6000.Serge if you are concerned about repairing the hood get a new one, when they are damaged around the hinges it is impossible to keep it from cracking.

What is the difference between Imron elite and the 5000/6000?Is the elite single pass?I don’t work on big trucks but we paint them on a regular basis,if your color is a metallic I would go with the 6000,solid would be 5000.We used to stock dupont clear but we have been using sikkens clear on imron 6000 for over 7 years with no problems 😛 I can ask the guys at the shop about your questions, they deal with it on a regular basis.
If your doing a metallic imron is easy, put on your first coat, then your cross coat back to back and walk away, then come back in 15minutes and clear it.Don’t tack the base as it stays wet until you clear it and it crosslinks and cures.
