yes, you need a tooth greater than 600. 180 atleast. i agree that blasting will be way easier but you dont want to use a coarse media for the reason ryan mentioned. if you use a finer media and on aluminum you keep the psi low, around 30-40 then you can blast and epoxy them. epoxy and single stage will be the most durable finish you can do.

polyesters are not usually even made by most or even any of the paint companies. its private labeled or made for them by companies like evercoat that specialize in polyester. the price is jacked way up like its something special when it is not. polyester is pretty low on the technology totem pole and cheap to make. no need for those kind of prices.

i was going to buy some once until they told me it was $380 a gallon. if you already got it, it should be no different than any other polyprimer. 2.0-2.5mm tip, very small fan and start hammerin!!

have to agree with jason on both. love the dolphin glaze, never sticky and i have never been crazy about alot of evercoat fillers. atleast every two years they have bad batches with cracking problems. i do like many of their other products but fillers of any kind are questionable to say the least. none that they make can comapre to the marson platinum or +. i have heard many great thing about that upol filler but have not used it.

I cant say enough good things about the dynabrade. Truely the best 3″ air buffer out there but ryan i correct, its really expensive at close to $600 retail. Its got so much torque you almost cant stop it.

i personally have never seen a 3″ electric buffer, i know you can get 3″ backing plates with a 5/8 mount to go on a full size buffer.

I was using evercoats tacky coat on the walls. The stuff does work. You should see what gets stuck on the walls after a couple weeks. I have however stopped using it. I now use the 3m dirt trap stuff on the walls. Kinda pricy for the inital purchase but its way cheaper in the long run. I am able to clean the booth in half the time withoit the need for powerwashing. It will last on my walls for about a year. All i need to do i change the filters, brush the walls with a broom and change the floor paper out.

It will never cure. You must do as ryan says.

Any of you guys use the 3m smooth transition tape? I find that stuff to be far better. I use it in combination with the foam tape. I use the transition tape to mask the edge and the foam to seal the gaps. I dpnt know about it being faster but it yeilds a cleaner job anyway. Whenever i use the foam tape i find the clear bridges up onto the foam in some spots leaving a rough edge.

I will say i have been a norton guy for years. On average it is about $5-8 a box cheaper than 3m. Recently i did some comparison with 3m’s purple clean sanding discs and found them to consistantly outlast norton 2-1. When you take that into consideration the 3m is actually cheaper.

Yeah i find diamnot to be a 2-3 coat system. Only time its more than that is with custom colors from the carizzma book which is to be expected. I use limco occasionally but usually one of the single stages not a base so i have no input on that.
