you know when we switched to enviro, we had to get their new sealers for that line, the old sealers wouldn’t work with the new base. i was told that the base wouldn’t bit to the sealer as well. maybe it could be the sealer and the base isn’t getting any bite.
i wouldn’t think that the base still haveing moisture would casue it, the few times that i have cleared enviro that was still a little wet, the only thing it would do was dye back.
but i will admit this is interesting. but i don’t think we’ll find out the problem.
Man if my paint rep was blatantly lying to my face like that I’d be pretty pissed off. Global sealers were the standard to go under EHP until they released a low VOC sealer. I have no doubt The products are compatible.
we were useing das sealer, then they came out with the new ecs enviro sealers. and i can tell you they are a whole world of a differenace between the two. so they weren’t lying to me. they were in the process of producing the new sealer. and i never used any of the gobal products, so i don’t know if those sealers are different from the das sealers.August 17, 2011 at 3:06 am #32481Clear needs a lil more psi any ways, but that didn’t cause the runs, u went to slow, hvlps r not the best guns to spray clear because u have to move slow with them. next time over reduce the clear some, so that way u will get a wet look while being able to move fast enough not to get runs.
August 14, 2011 at 3:42 am #32419:deadhorse The only time that I did have a ptoblem with a cover not matching with the same paint was with remans. Somethin bout the primer thet use.
August 14, 2011 at 12:58 am #32408jay and ben if you guys never had a cover being a shade off like the factory, well then…………………… YA’LL JUST F’IN SUCk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 14, 2011 at 12:56 am #32407which one of us are you talking to. no therory, if you buff flat colors they will become glossy again, fact.
lucky fact what i did was just luck (did it twice, once on ss and once on b/c), but that was on fresh paint. don’t know if i would try it on large panels though.August 13, 2011 at 7:44 pm #32395andyt i’ve had the same problem as you did on a few cars. same paint, done at same time but for some reason, a lil difference.
of corse, jay is useing water, so color matches are 10x’s better. and when we switched to water matches are just about perfect.in the last 2 1/2 yrs of useing it, i’ve redone 5 covers, but that was due to the color variant being off.
alot of times it depends on the plastics you get, am, oem, reman (wich remans usually seem to be the ones that don’t match when refinishing with the car at the same time)… as we all know plastics are like our skin, we sweat our pours open to cool off, same concept, expect the paint gets soaked into the plastic.
jay is also right about the plastics from the factory, painted at different times, some atleast a month ahead of the car.

August 13, 2011 at 7:23 pm #32390if it’s fresh, and i do mean like fresh to 2 days old, i have buffed a few places on a flat black, and then took some laqure and wiped back down to a flat finish.
BUT, i suggest to do a test spot in a small unnoticable area.honestly i say i was lucky at best. it may work it may not.
August 11, 2011 at 2:29 am #32257I’m almost nothing is different other than I think aqua is the european equvilent to enviro & like I said if I’m not wrong enviro is a copy of aqua. As far as I know and told neither is better than the other.
August 11, 2011 at 2:25 am #32256Don’t use it, as above stated, it’s near unbuffable. And almost near impossible to sand to recoat. My rep has told me to stay away from it. He said that it was design for city bus’s & things like to that tto keep vandalism down.
August 11, 2011 at 1:53 am #32254According to my ppg rep they have this law about no two companys in the same area can’t sell their products. Now I m not sure if that is in the same town or certain mile radious.also the jobber is right, your lucky you can get any @ all, I’ve been their customer 4 15yrs & still had to go thru the bs to get enviro in heree.
If I’m not mistaken I believe nexs had the aqua base first then enviro came along.
Man hate to say this but your sorta stuck on this.August 10, 2011 at 5:46 am #32243my question is this, what r u going to do for toners? you should be fine, in the mean time u might want to give your ppg rep a call and ask why r they not selling enviro in your area any more.
i’m sure your jobber will have answer as too why when the rep calls him.
