r 3000 wet to reduce/ refine the sanding scratches to make buffing much quicker and easier
Using the disc wet also in my opinion drastically increase’s the life span of the disc

Repair work is easy too. Unlike many water borne bases that stay a little tacky or rubbery, this stuff just dries, and can be sanded with no problem at all. I’ve even taken a DA to it within minutes of application!

Are you using one of their clears too?
Lesonal is terrible for flatting it has that rubbery feel to it, you cant go near the base coat with anything wet ie panelwipe etc or it just turns to sludge.

That is my only gripe other than that lesonal has been okay for us. i have spoke to a few people about debeer and they seem to rate it.

Andy if it works in your shop it must be okay as you have a pretty high volume going through the shop.

we sometimes have the same problem.

The thing you have to remember here, not sure if it is the same over the pond

Ford codes here are usually one letter and a number, the number is usually tied to when the car was built.

If you just put in the first part of the code this sometimes helps

Make no sense sometimes the letter and number bring up the correct colour. and other times only the letter will bring up the correct colour.
Cool.

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one of those. I must be getting lazy in my old age as I don’t like bending down much any more 😆

Is it stable enough for you to give a dented sill (rocker) a good pull with a stud welder? We get loads of those jobs for some reason.
Yes very stable when the stand is in at the back, that was thge reason i got it for repairing sills, and getting acess to give the sill/rocker a little tug when required.
:pcorn: looks like it would work great for the lil cars not so much for bigger cars . have you tried it on a 4 door sedan yet? how much did it flex? otherwise looks like a great back saver cover it and take it in the booth with ya to
No problem on a bigger vehicle lifted one of these no problem

if you use it on the rear wheel it lifts the whole rear end up as one
I’ve not used the Festool branded one, but I have played with something very similar that one of my staff had, and they work very well.

Nelson – yes, it’s basically a flat plate of metal that planes off the high spots. I haven’t found one for myself yet, and use a single sided razor blade instead, but will be on the lookout for one of these.

They’re also great for knocking off large dirt nibs.

Where’d you get it from paintpot?
Andy

Powertec sell run razor’s, you can usually order powertec products through your local suppliers.

They are not the festool one, they come in an adjustable block so you can change the angle of the razor to match the shape of the affected area.
Hey guys ,

they also said i can use my palm sander even tho it has a larger orbit ?

    tommy
You should try and use a sander with an orbit no bigger than 5mm, there is no need to go all the way down to a 2.5mm orbit.
cheers andy ,

i was thinking knocking panels flat with say 1000 by hand then 1500 tri then 3000 tri

do you think the results would be good ? or maybe get 1200 discs too?

also how many discs would you use on a full car?
I have tried them all, but still revert to flatting by hand, but i would maybe do it different if i was working on show cars .

Consider trying Sia velvet discs i am sure they go all the way up too 4000.

They are very well padded if you soak them in water then squeeze the excess out they last about twice as long, also using them damp with water reduces the cut, thus making the finish even finer, therefore easier to polish.
I bet a new Jun-Air booth with QUADS would look good in that shop!
yep that is one of the big questions lol, not sure what i am going to do about a booth yet, will need to see how much cash is left in the pot at the end of the build.
Nice one Nick :rock

Have you spent endless hours planning the interior layout to the last detail?

I have, and I’ve no chance of ever getting a place of my own that big :rofl

Keep us updated with progress, especially if there are new shiny things being fitted!
Yep i keep on thinking about layout setup and changing my mind lol, i was going to put in a brand new screw compressor in the new building, but changed my mind.

Going to put a new one in the old building and pipe it over to the new building, it is only about 20 meters away.

Will save on space and noise.

    thanks chap’s

Yes it is exciting looking forward to it, should make a big difference to the shoe box size shop i have worked with for the last ten years.

I have no real complaints though my little shop has done well for me over the years, but i have built the business a fair bit, and really need the extra working space now.
