ok, this is what I did. I painted an escape all over black and cleared it. sanded that down, taped a bunch of graphics,I had to cut the tape in a lot of places where the graphics criss crossed. I sprayed 2 pearl coats then a few light coats of the wb clear (intermix), then untaped it and most of the glue was at the corners and intersections, also the blue tape (it was the purple tape)leaves a haze where it was stuck to the sanded clear.

I’ve done this all before, including airbrushing with wb, on a smaller scale (motorcycle parts), and I used dbc 500 for protection over the wb, and everything was fine and I can clean with solvent or water base before final 2k clear. But the local paint rep says I should use a clear thats heavy in iso’s over wb or there might be adhesion problems. We were using lesonal universal clear over solvent base but when we switched to wb, we had to go to glamor clear.

I think that would be a lot of extra work to use a 2k clear over the graphics, then untape then sand and clear the whole thing, not to mention the edge build up.

I’ll try that new green tape.

according to my employer, apparently the epa came into a shop somewhere around here and made them remove all the guns not stamped with model numbers. I dont know if they had the certificates or got fined. Hopefully I can convince my employer to let me keep my guns, I gave him the certificates, and letters from the state and fed epa concerning these guns. I’ve sent an email to Devilbiss about this, havent heard from them yet.

I got the letters from the state and federal epa for the 6H rules. I also got the certificates from Devilbiss, and a list of models of guns that are compliant. My guns are cvi, gti, and plus, with the proper size air caps and guages. But they dont have the model number stamped on the guns themselves. Maybe thats what my employer was talking about. How would an epa agent know if these guns are what is written on the certificates if they dont have a model # on them.It sure would suck to have to buy new guns just for that reason.

Let the soap and water sit on the bumper, keep it wet for a while to soften up the bug guts. then scrub them away and rinse. An all purpose degreaser may work a little better than soap and water. Some of the bug guts will embed into the paint/clearcoat, a clay bar would be the next aggressive way to remove them. If that dont work then wetsand and buff would be next, I use 2000 grit first , the finer the better chance to not go through the clear and is easier to buff out with compound. Sometimes the bug guts are embedded so far you have to sand and repaint.
