We normally do 8/9 a week, with maybe a couple of bumper change overs aswel which come painted.
The main hold up is that the foreman is the panelbeater an he has th stop al the time to order parts, deal with customers and do estimates etc, that’s why I try to help in the panel stop to keep things going, we’re not a big company just three little shops next to each other, ie panel shop, paint shop and storesFebruary 8, 2013 at 12:09 am #41174There’s nothin wrong with the rm clears or the max Meyer with can be used as a single visit, I’m only doing what he wants, the last time he got like this a Ferrari 430 turn up to the shop for him lol I bet he’s got a Ferrari 458 or something coming, the only way I can see things going faster is we get a guy in that can help with the prep an prime the jobs for me as spraying one job in some times priming two to three jobs as well, there’s where my time goes
Mixing primers and priming them as well as painting in the boothMy week normally goes like this
Monday, do job cards for the week and then help do m.e.t
Tuesday, help finish off filler work then prime all the jobs
Wednesday, pick all colours for the jobs, prep, mask, paint jobs
Thursday flat and polish, help build up cars
Friday, clean and valet all cars, clean work shop plus do paint and stock orders, also finish off job cards,February 7, 2013 at 9:40 pm #41167Hey ding cheers, my boss wants a faster turn over even through are shop has a total of a massive ….. Four guys ha ha to do everything.
With my boss trying different products the main painter has got funny and will only use rm products due to his license in pas 125 ( insurance ) I’m the second painter an have been given all these products to try and work out what’s best
As in….
Rm diamont
Rm UNO
U-pol
Du pont
Glasurit
Max Meyer which I can think of 🙂February 6, 2013 at 4:28 pm #41111Hey guys, so I’ve just used it for the first time and erm yeh it’s different…… I got it with the rapid hardener which isn’t a great choose as how it lands on the panel is how it stays lol can’t play with it much to get a great finish. But hopefully with using it more and trying the standard hardener I may get some better results. Ill post pics as soon as I can
January 29, 2013 at 1:19 am #40776I agree with all the guys here. I’ve worked for my boss for 11 years and he’s been in the trade for 30 but he’s old school and isn’t up to date with the paints and methods, I get hold on a daily bassis that he knows best and I don’t know what I’m talking about.
It is hard to keep your mouth closed when your boss is in your face 8 hours a day ha ha. I like to do spare work and do it the way I like and plus its the work my boss won’t touch ie motor bikes 🙂 doing this helps me relax and try new things with out the pressure of my boss. Try your best to keep calm and do what he likes and when it goes wrong then it’s his fault 🙂
January 29, 2013 at 1:09 am #40775Reason I ask as I found out I need glasses to spray so wearing a fly mask isnt s great idea, and with my air fed my boss has a rubbish compy and I do get a lot of dips wen spraying , which makes my job that little bit harder, that’s why I was thinkin of the 3m mask 🙂 but if people don’t think it’s great then ill have to try something else ha ha
January 25, 2013 at 5:09 pm #40599Hey mate cheers, I do has an idea about it and how to use it but I’m only doing what he says :). Would you use it on your every day car as I’m only using it on vans etc for now well from next week once I get the tech sheets on it
January 25, 2013 at 2:14 pm #40590Hey Jay. first I love the homemade stand for the flat bed awesome I could do with one 😉 makes life so much easier I bet. your work is looking great and keep the pics coming. I would post but its pointless showing you pictures of all white fleet vans 🙁 but of a downer doing them as you turn to a zombie doing the same old thing….. But it’s only till feb then the real work starts.
How all you guys getting on with the waterbourne still haven’t done the change yet but I think it’s in the pipe line :rock
January 25, 2013 at 2:06 pm #40589Yeh that’s the stuff. He wants to use it for flees, builders vans etc. :wak what do you guys think. Lol Im just doing what the boss wants ha ha
January 23, 2013 at 4:35 pm #40518Hey mate looking good, I’m doing fleet work atm which isn’t great but keeps me busy. Ill be starting some great projects in the next month of a line up of motor bike ;), how you getting on at your work etc. and have you tried any upol products as I’ve just done a big Order from the uk
January 19, 2013 at 1:18 am #40441Hey guys. So I pick up my order in the morning for the u-pol products, I got three different body fillers, an etch primer not an aerosol, plus three litres of grey 3:1 of filler primer and a litre in the beige. and a litre of 5:1 also couple of litres of hardener and thinners. I’m waiting on the 4:1 filler primer to be in stock , would love if you guys could point me in the right way with the upol as I don’t use it cheers
January 14, 2013 at 12:17 am #40348Ok that sounds great what’s the name for the etch in the debeer and is there a web site in the uk I can order it from, why I’m asking is I have four motor bikes to prep and paint and the fairings are fibre glass well part from the tank lol with them being for racing the cost of paint is getting to high with using the rm. so if I could find something which is little cheaper to help them out and to get them coming back to me after each season 🙂
