I know you can sand glass. I’d bust out the DA and frost the whole thing and shoot the urethane SS. that paint is tough, and urethane sticks to everything.

I have such a bad taste in my mouth left by bad fitting aftermarket parts – plastic or steel parts. Drives me nuts. Personally I would rather fix the stock than buy new.

I do lots of fiberglass and plastic work as it is, so a little plastic repair on a few holes or cracks in a mangled stock bumper isn’t that bad to me – compared to a few hundred for a new part that probably won’t fit. if you can get a stock bumper from the manufacturer that’s a different story, but I’m sure the bumper cover on a BMW is $1000 or something insane.

that is really an amazing build. Some of the best welding work I have EVER seen. is the company still alive? website is down, and no finished pics after a couple years…

they make those little tiny buffing tips for a dremel tool. I do lots of fiberglass sanding, and I bet I could knock that down and buff it out. it may not be the perfect finish of the rest of it, but I’m sure it’s possible.

how about that spot putty over the run trick! that would make it easier to sand down for sure

nice work there Brian. The booth is nice, but you’ll have to get some ducting and a fan to suck out the cloud. that’s no fun.

very nice finish on the clear. I’m still struggling to get a consistent finish over larger areas. I always end up with a little bit of dry spray and/or runs somewhere…

Nuts. I don’t really need the ‘frame-puller’ type of hardcore clamps, since I just want to tug on some studs. Is there a cheapo alternative, or am I going to have to rig up something cheaper?

    I got the unispotter

are there better places to find these?

The main thing stopping me is I’d have to buy a welder. I’m tempted to get the panels and do a bunch of practice runs with the torch – gas welding is a skill I’d like to develop

I just ran into this page – have you looked into the possiblility of trapped air? like it says here for craters? I don’t know how you check for something like that, except – do you see the crater when you spray it? or does it show up later?

I’ve always ran 1″ in the past, and it was always galvanized or PVC. Galv pipe is as big a pain as black iron, and not that much cleaner, and pvc always leaks, doesn’t cool the air, and it’s also illegal. I planned 1″ in the new shop, but they’re asking $125 for a 20′ stick? WHAT?!? So I’m saving a few and going 3/4″ and putting the extra $ into a couple of good hose reels.
