WHICH ONE HAS MORE SPECIAL COLORS, BASF HAS FOOSE AND WHAT DOES PPG HAVE?
with a mixing system you can make any color you want. dont buy paint based on the guy thats getting paid money to endorse it
plus fooses custom colors are mixed in onyx. not 90 line 😉August 3, 2011 at 3:47 am #32037
Basf is not a true waterborne, still solvent toners with a waterborne binder, also has to be mixed on a machine twice a day.Slow to dry, hard to repair, not user friendly.
Enviro base has good color match, true waterborne, only needs a couple of shakes before you pour, fast drying, easy to use, good metallic control.I would also put money on ppg being less expensive compared to basf.
No Sikkens plug :pcorn:August 3, 2011 at 2:18 am #32032Thats looks awesome Nex. Maybe you can come up here and sculpt the nose on this cobra for me
August 2, 2011 at 3:26 am #32000I’ll get paid accordingly 😉 probably due a few extras to make the car look the best it can. can probably pull 10-12 out of it, then some extras the owner wants to due to make it mechanically better
July 30, 2011 at 3:37 pm #3197330 hours. Sounds like you’re a candidate to come work for me :rofl :rofl

No it Doesnt :chair
July 29, 2011 at 5:40 am #31956let the clear get nice and hard so the runs sand out easier. the runs will stay softer longer due to the extra material. you can hit them with some 600 to open them up and let the solvents escape easier. once they are cured block them out with some 400/600 grit and a hard block. dont be surprised if you break through the clear (especially since this is your first time). once the runs are blocked out, prep the rest of the panels and respray
July 29, 2011 at 3:45 am #31947Looks like we are going with a semigloss white 🙂 Grey scotch pad, A/P and single stage seem to do the trick. Might do a light coat of white epoxy first just for added assurance
July 28, 2011 at 1:47 am #31931
maybe its just me but 95% of the time i can never locate the paint code for vw’s or audi’s.
Thats cause they are in the spare tire pan and since 90% of VW’s are owned by women, you would have to take all that crap out of the trunk to locate it :whistle:July 27, 2011 at 3:44 pm #31924you made out pretty good if all you did was straighten it and prime it for $1100
July 25, 2011 at 3:53 pm #31889Checked out smarttrack and none of the colors they are looking for are on there. found chip books online. just hate to spend the money without knowing if the colors they spec’d are in there.
sent an email to the customer to try and get me the samples.July 25, 2011 at 2:23 am #31879I have found on a few too many gm’s that they put the wrong code on the option tag. :wak
July 24, 2011 at 5:15 am #31857thanks Jim. Thats pretty much the info I needed. Didnt get much chance yet to look for chip books or anything. I went on Pantones web site and the color books I saw were in the thousands of dollars :wak . and the little samples that they showed weren’t big enough to try and match. Dont have photoshop, but I have the coral graphics suite which should have the colors as well i’m guessing. Now just to figure out pricing
July 22, 2011 at 2:40 am #31838ya. that peice is held on by 4 10mm nuts from inside the trunk. take about 5 minutes to change. might cost you $20 at a junk yard. can probably even find it in color. you would spend way more time and money trying to fix it
July 12, 2011 at 5:48 am #31660
what was initially wrong with the roof?
Looks like its got some pretty good damage in that first photo. then he talks about fixing the dents and fixing the oil canning
so that would be my guess as to why he stripped it  - AuthorPosts
