Doesn’t really matter to me, as long as there straight. I prefer the wooden ones to plastic as they don’t warp over time but i usually just get my 3M rep to replace mine once a year. The small rubber ones you need to be careful with, sometimes you will get really warped ones (especially the cheapy’s). Once I had a rubber block with a big bulge in the middle, wrecked a job before I figured out the problem.

clearcoat isn’t meant to be sprayed in the middle of a panel, when sprayed it needs to be taken from edge to edge after a good surface preperation. What you should have done is just brushed it on, you still may not get a perfect repair without doing a full refinish on the panel. I’d wash it off with paint thinner. if the scratch isn’t too deep you can brush a bit of clear on it, then wet sand and polish. If it’s too deep you can touch it up with some basecoat first. What color is it? is this a metallic color?

Also, you want to avoid aerosol clears if thats what you are using as they offer very little protection.

I don’t think I’ll bother with a mold. Knowing my luck I”ll build the mold and he’ll decide to take his business to another shop next season.

I wish I did but the shop is just packed at the moment, it’s been shoved off to the side for now. I don’t know where all this work came from but I’m not complaining either. I am still gonna keep posting it’s progress when we have a chance to get back at it.

It should be all fixed now 🙂

Been putting that off for too long. It was the same error that caused me to delete stones thread. On the Admin side when I went to delete one message it deleted the first message which in turn removed the whole thread. 🙁

I used the BASF unreleased clear, can’t remember all the numbers. The blend doesn’t look as bad as it might have but ya polishing it will still suck.

never thought about that (taking the doors off), where were ya earlier?

I just looked it up on BASF’s online formula database, It’s appears to be available in Glasurit 55 line, 90 line and RM Onyx hd. It says for 2004 if that sounds right? It shows it as 3-stage. Paint code comes up 723 if that helps too.

I’ve used it and like it. It sands really nice and seems to hold up well. I found it to dry with a skin you might say on it, right after you make your initial cut the stuff sands itself. It’s also epoxy based so thiers quite a few advantages their compared to polyester. The only downside was that you can’t use the regular polyester hardeners. It was about 50/50 at our shop on who liked it and who didn’t, but most of my staff is afraid of change so I’d discredit half of their opinions!

(forgot to change accounts again, hate when that happens. It’s Jimmo for anyone not up with my split personality)

[quote]When I try to upload the pictures in Imageshack or use the site’s uplloader and select “preview” a new page appears which seems to be loading but nothing comes up, just some email @ somethingselect.ca. :silly:[/quote]

I’m still having some problems with the preview function, hopefully I’ll have that fixed soon….. I just modified one of your posts to get an imageshack picture to display, you can click to edit it and see what the code looks like. I find it best just to copy the direct link of the image and post it between two image tags. I’ll try the uploader, it has a 1.5m limit on it, but other then that it should be functioning..i’ll look into it.thanks.
