Attachments:February 16, 2009 at 4:08 pm #127655 coats still isn’t bad for a red metallic. Some of Duponts is in the range of 8 or 9 coats. That is a nice looking clear.
February 16, 2009 at 2:49 am #12759Looks good Ding! What clear did you put on that one? Hows Glasurits red metallic cover?
February 13, 2009 at 4:05 pm #12730I love those gravy jobs, just wish there was more of them. You have a very nice looking shop there Joe. Between you and Ding I am going to have to paint the inside of my booth.
February 8, 2009 at 8:41 am #12644Thanks guys! Why should you keep etch away from filler? I have heard of this I just don’t know why.
January 29, 2009 at 4:43 pm #12543When me and the wife bought our house I was in the same situation. Mine were stained so I striped them and painted them a low gloss black.
I don’t know what you have in mind for your countertops but we bought some at Lowes (don’t know if you have them in canada) They are sections of MDF in various lengths and angles with formica already on them. You only have to cut an end to length and band the end. We did all ours for $127. They’re cheap. Ours were already formica and were an aweful shade of green so they had to go!
January 29, 2009 at 4:22 pm #12541I like them! I would have never thought about doing that.
Did you strip the original finish off or just knock the top off? You need some black and stainless steel appliances to go with those cabinets, that would look cool. If only money really did grow on trees!
January 28, 2009 at 6:24 am #12525Looks Good! You probably have the cleanest booth I have ever seen. Mine looks like crap compared to that.
January 26, 2009 at 12:51 am #12487That’s some nice looking work! I am younger myself(27). It’s nice to see that there are some young people getting into this trade. Keep posting the pics, I like to see others work.
January 26, 2009 at 12:49 am #12486Welcome! Sounds like you work in a nice shop. I hate painting the oddball stuff. (bosses lawn furniture)
January 25, 2009 at 11:19 pm #12479How do you know when to turn the wire speed up or down? What about the current?
January 24, 2009 at 9:32 pm #12453The stuff your painter is talking about is called Extra Top. It does slow down the flash a little bit and speeds up the bake. It usually knocks off about 5 minutes on the bake. I think the only reason the clear stays open longer is because it kinda overreduces the clear, that is all. I sprayed Sikkens for along time, but I always thought adding the Extra Top would make it pinch back a little more than usual.
