Thanks guys for all the comments. I’m waiting on the stud welder to arrive so I can get all the dents out as much as possible, then we’ll try to close this one out. I will try and post more pics as I go along with the hopes that they will be of some assistance to another person.
Doc
Yeah Jason, I started off with the small heat rings, but man that roof was stretched like crazy. I would have prefered to just cut the whole roof off and weld another one back on. Of course, then I would have to take the glass out and I know Doc, it would get broken, haha.
It’s all tight now though, so it worked out by some strange happen chance.
Thank Bondo, I’ll take that as a compliment from one of the old heads. Appreciate it. Now you will also get to watch me mix Bondo with Evercoat Rage Gold since I am poor, haha. I have some stud pulling and old school hammer and dollying to do, then well get to the filler. Since I’m here, I got a question, do you, or anyone else for that matter, ever put body filler over Epoxy primer?
Smooth, a tree fell on the roof of the car when we had some bad weather. I stripped all the paint for a few reasons: 1. there were multiple dents in the roof, 2. the damage streched the metal like crazy all over the center of the roof, so it was oll canning like crazy, 3. I was taught as a young lad to work the metal until it’s as perfect as it can be, then use a little bondo (can’t work the metal if I am not at the metal).
A shorter and probably better version would be, what Ding said, haha.
Everyone has a different setting for their style of painting, but 18-20 psi seems to be the sweet spot for me when shooting metallic and 20-22 seems to be best for clear with a slightly less than wide open fan and full open fluid. I am an enthusiast though, so whatever I say must be taken with a grain of salt since I probably paint in a different way than people who have bee properly trained (I just got OJT training over multiple years).
