I’m not for sure if you use them but hi-flow fittings will make a world of difference with this gun. When I first got mine about 3 1/2 years ago, I had no idea about hi-flow fittings i just used a standard quick disconnect. I hated this gun! Once I switched over it made a world of difference.
January 23, 2009 at 4:51 pm #12411Thats some nice work! One thing I wish I had was some artistic talent, but I can’t even draw a stick man! Keep up the good work!
January 22, 2009 at 4:03 pm #12366I’m guessing that your a Sikkens user by your avatar. What clear are you spraying. If it’s Autoclear 3 then no I wouldn’t use the Iwata. You would need to put a 1.4 nozzle in it. If it’s HS+ then you might be able to pull it off. Iwata recommends a 1.4 for all sikkens clear. You might have better luck with the W-400. It is a compliant gun like the RP. When my shop was still using Sikkens and I had to do a complete I would use a 1.4, if I didn’t it would look a little dry the next day. Plus it was slow.
The cool thing about an Iwata is that to change your gun from a 1.3 to a 1.4 all you need is a fluid nozzle. The air cap and needle are the same. Also you can turn a LPH into a W-400 by replacing the aircap, nozzle and needle. It is the same gun body.
January 17, 2009 at 4:50 am #12282I have not got any advice for you as I have never sprayed a complete this way. I am interested in seeing how you do it though. If your not too busy a few pictures would be pretty cool. Good luck!
January 14, 2009 at 6:38 am #12265We mainly use this for bumpers. I would rather eat the markup on the OEM bumper than have to mess around with a Tong Yang bumper. Our Chrysler parts guy works with us a little bit so we can still get a small markup. Your going to loose somewhere, either in markup or in labor messing with aftermarket parts. Plus our Chrysler stocks almost everything so we can get on the job faster.
January 13, 2009 at 7:30 am #12248Jimmo, I was wondering if you were still using the Presta products and if you still liked them after using them for a while? I have been interested in trying them but wanted some feedback first.
January 13, 2009 at 7:19 am #12247We have been busy, but no trouble getting parts.
Speaking of parts did you guys know about the deal Chrysler has going on where they will match aftermarket prices? I think they just extended it until March. When insurance writes aftermarket you can get OEM for the same price. I know it isn’t topic related but I thought I would throw it out there since you mentioned parts.:)
December 17, 2008 at 4:19 pm #12111I asked our owner what our procedure was on a damaged intrusion beam and he agreed with all of the above. He said if there is any visible damage the door gets replaced. He said we make alot more money replacing a door. More on parts, less labor spent on the car and it pays about the same.
December 15, 2008 at 3:25 pm #12091That’s a nice shop you got there Jimmo. A place I use to work had that same booth and I loved it. I got some of my best work out of it.
December 12, 2008 at 4:00 pm #12072We always just order new clips. I have tried to warm it up with a heat gun thinking it would help , but it didn’t. If clips are not an option I would go the green tape route!:cheer:

Just a run on the edge by the headlamp!:)
December 1, 2008 at 12:56 am #11995Damn, that thing turned out nice! Thats some top notch paint work! What guns and tip sizes you shooting with?
December 1, 2008 at 12:52 am #11994The paint code is 1C0 on a Lexus. Factory color, I just left out most of the yellow in the formula!
I would love to use Glasurit or R-M paint but the jobber in our area sucks!
December 1, 2008 at 12:20 am #11991No reason for this pic, I was just trying to figure out how to post an image on here without having a link. Does anyone know how to resize a picture so I can just attach it. Any picture off of my computer says it’s too big to attach. My 12 year old cousin just did it in about 1 minute and I can’t figure it out on my own now!
