August 20, 2009 at 5:24 pm #15446When I first started doing bodywork, all I had to use were torches. I would braze all my patch panels in. If I remember correctly, what caused problems with the repair not holding was when the flux was not cleaned off good enough. I usually just sandblasted everything with a handheld blaster to clean the joint , and give it some tooth.
I concur with everybody else. The weld held this long. leave it alone, clean it (sandblast) and go on. Looks like the rest of the top of that fender could use a quick blasting anyway.

July 10, 2009 at 5:26 pm #14868Funny, I did my two adirondack chairs last week, except I sprayed it with some minwax stain/ urethane that was left over from previose years followed by two coats of “mystery clear” that I had laying around.
June 5, 2009 at 9:30 pm #14647If I were a dealer owner that was notified that GM or Chrysler no longer needed me, The first calls I would be making would be to Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Tesla……Those companies looking to capitalized on the former big three’s weakness right now.
Seems like GM is forgetting who their real competition is.May 28, 2009 at 10:34 pm #14496I denib & buff pretty much everything also. Most customers would never see what I take out.
May 15, 2009 at 10:08 pm #14327I would skip the rivets, and put a skim coat of bonding adhesive over the top edge of the scoop before it starts to kick.
Are you going to bond to the filler that’s there or go to bare metal?May 15, 2009 at 5:43 pm #14319Give it time, You don’t try to cheat the gov. when you’re swimming in $$$. I would pay them before I would eat if it came to it. I’m sure they could get a loan to tide them through it.
Still, hate to see anyone struggle, but it seems that they do it to themselves.
May 15, 2009 at 6:07 am #14312Jimmo, Sounds like a good time to raise your rates.
Looks likes it’s getting more common.
Tax fraud is not something to mess with.
May 13, 2009 at 6:36 pm #14303I needed a steel brake line for a lincoln MKX that I was finishing up and didn’t want to splice it with parts store lines, and figured that OE would have the nice original bends. Well, it was just like original, but was $142 for a 6 foot brake line. Nice profit margin on that one for Ford.
May 8, 2009 at 9:11 pm #14265I don’t use their system as a whole, I’ve just recently started using a few toners here & there. I notice no difference than the mastertints.
May 8, 2009 at 5:31 pm #14258I use the tonors on some colors as substitute for Dupont, but their clears to me are not user friendly in my experience.
The dry times are longer than I am used to ,most are 16+ hours at 77 degrees, Not really saving any $$$ when you have to leave the heat on all night.
Also, theirs is the only clear that I seem to get solvent pop with.
May 5, 2009 at 10:00 pm #14217Looks interesting, but I don’t notice any pitting on the cleaned parts. Just smooth metal.
I’d give it a try though. - AuthorPosts
